Bliss Out is a short form comedy series exploring the intersection of bliss across various communities - from spiritual to secular, conformist to avant-garde. While we are all connected through our shared humanity how we experience joy may be unique. Bliss Out celebrates our differences by discovering all the little pockets of how people #blissout.
Starring Tilke Hill and Byron Brown Jr., Bliss Out is a collaborative multi-media project utilizing the talents of local performers, artists, and createpreneurs. Bliss Out is an in-house production of The New Hotness, Inc. meaning it is driven by a social mission of inclusion. We encourage artists of all mediums to get involved and share their work - understanding that cross-promotion is a key component of connectivity. Filmed and produced in Buffalo, NY., each episode will run between seven and eleven minutes as dictated by the story. We are currently in pre-production for the first three episodes with the intent to start filming as soon as we reach our funding goal. We have a projected completion date of September 27, 2017, as a unique opportunity has been presented for the fall. While we cannot reveal the details at this time this opportunity will support the momentum of the series through press and industry attention.
Risks and challenges
The work of The New Hotness, Inc. (TNH), even that which is commercial by design, always includes a social mission of inclusion. This means that the company is dedicated to providing opportunities to underrepresented voices - be that due to age, gender, ethnicity, sexuality or the insidious class system. And because of this - we are often utilizing talent and crew who may not have as much experience as an individual with inherent privilege. We welcome the opportunity to teach and employ people who may be less experienced or perhaps are transitioning out of the workforce. We recognize that in both cases there may be challenges. We embrace these challenges as an opportunity to foster growth within ourselves and participating individuals and our community at large. TNH often offers its sponsorship to important cultural organizations such as PUSH, Buffalo International Film Festival (BIFF) and Ujima Company. A challenge TNH will experience this year is the quickly approaching dates of BIFF in early October alongside production of Bliss Out. However in the past 3 years the TNH team has managed to support the BIFF initiative regardless of all other in-house projects that may be in motion - so we know we can handle this challenge with grace!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
