Aliens, on board their UFOs, want to invade Earth. We’ve quickly realized that although UFOs and Aliens are immune to conventional weapons, they are sensitive to the population's feelings. Thus, the more humans are happy and the more UFOs tend to... explode. So how to make people happy when they see UFOs coming down to land?

By launching fireworks, of course! ^^

As to the nature of the game Fireworks Command Ship (FCS), it is an arcade color match game (in terms of the central gameplay), where the player pilots the FCS to remotely send up fireworks of colors to match the colors of the UFOs lifebars. Matching the colors make people happy and therefore destroys the UFOs before they land with invading Aliens.

Fireworks Command Ship will make many references to films (Encounter of the 3rd kind, Star Wars, Independence Day...), series (Space 1999, Star Trek...) and video games (mainly Space Invaders, but also XCOM...) on the subject of alien invasions, with a good dose of humor thrown in.

To sum it up, Fireworks Command Ship is an easy to learn, hard to master arcade game with fun gameplay where you have to launch fireworks to make people happy to blow up UFOs!

Key Features of Fireworks Command Ship include:

  • A story mode! With 5 Chapters and 20 Acts (plus the base) which will take place around Earth... and beyond!

  • Huge replay value! With 3 levels of difficulty, achievements and high-scores.

  • Several solo and multiplayer modes! So that you can never get bored of blowing up UFOs with fireworks.

  • Epic Bosses battles! Will you dare fighting spectacular and unique Bosses?
  • Many references! To films, series and video games, because we know that you love Easter eggs as much as we do.
  • Fun and challenging gameplay! It looks simple at first, but the more UFOs come, the more you will have to prove your skills to fight back the alien invasion.

  • Comic-inspired 3D graphics! So that your retina believes you are watching a cartoon series (yeah, let's rip off our retinas).

Planned platforms: Windows Mac and Linux.

Release date: End of S1, 2015 on PC, Mac and Linux.

Approx. gameplay time: 6 hours in the story mode, infinite for the other solo and multiplayer modes.

Language: We invented a language to make characters look even more cartoonish.

Subtitles: English and French (at least at the beginning).

Here are the main characters of Fireworks Command Ship, from left to right : Charles Redneck, Laura Redneck, Caroline Redneck, Chief Scientific, an alien, and Chief Military.

In the base, the player will have to upgrade his/her Fireworks Command Ship, buy secondary powers with in-game currency earned by destroying UFOs, and will be able to customize his/her ship. Moreover, much the storyline will take place in the base.

There will be the story mode, but also several other solo and multiplayer modes to have fun with.

Fireworks Command Ship will take place around Earth and… To boldly go where no man has gone before! ^^

Robin Gorget, our Sound Designer and Composer, joined the Fireworks Command Ship’s team at the very beginning. He uses a lot of SF movies, SF series, and SF video games soundtracks as references, with a funny twist. He has also worked on a very special language for the characters (a bit like the Simlish from The Sims) to add even more cartoonish feelings to the game (of course there will be subtitles when needed).

From the beginning, the members of the Fireworks Command Ship’s team have been working with almost no budget, as much as we can on our free time (this is why we target “only” $10,000) because we really believe in this game, and because we want to stay totally independant from a publisher. Nevertheless, we have spent a lot of months developing this project with a small team, and there is still much to do.

We need your support for several things :

  • To show us that we are right about the FCS potential, that there is a real audience for this game.

  • To buy other specific software licences, which we need to make a higher-quality game.

  • To hire external human resources.

Risks and challenges

From the start of this game production, it is intented to reach several goals at the same time : an accessible and intuitive (but finally hard to master) gameplay, a funny storytelling and, if stretch goals allow us to do that, great multiplayer modes.

As many indie video game developers, we work with Unity3D Engine for years, so we are quiet confident to make a terrific game, even if we are just a small team.

The preproduction is finished, for the environments, characters, ships, etc. and of course also for the prototypes. We are now working on the FCS production for several months.

We believe that the main risks are:
- We might want to add even more features than what is planed in the stretch goals, and this may result in a delay… But we do our best to keep our goals without adding a lot of more features.
- We don’t have much experience with online multiplayer, but thanks to the great Unity developers community and some external help, there shouldn’t be a big problem with this feature.
- The main risk is failure to succeed our Kickstarter campaign. If it is so, then we won’t be able to put as many features as we want to this great game. With your help and your support, all together we can make Fireworks Command Ship the best fireworks-sending-game-to-kick-aliens-ass on Earth!

We love making games (and particularly Fireworks Command Ship) as much as we love playing games, it’s a real game created by gamers for gamers. We not only put ourselves in your shoes all the time, but we also regularly plan playtests sessions with FCS fans to be sure that the gameplay is easy to play but challenging at the same time, and most of all that the game is FUN and exciting.
