Series Synopsis: Man of Sin is a psychological horror murder mystery where every step a father takes to find the truth about his son's death brings him that much closer to discovering he is the Anti-Christ.
Issue 1 Synopsis: A year after his son's death, Damien Nero's life has spiraled out of control. When an old friend comes to visit, old wounds resurface.
How this story came about: The origin of Man of Sin started way back when I was a boy as every Tuesday night my mother would take me to CCD, or religion school, where I learned all about our Catholic faith. This lead to a fascination with horror stories that use the Bible as cannon, such as the Exorcist and The Omen. These were the same sort of stories I was learning about every Tuesday, but with Hollywood flare.
As I got older, I started to wonder what these stories would be like if they used something other than God vs the Devil to create conflict? How much different The Omen or The Exorcist would be if the plot was character driven with antagonists that were more than just evil for evils sake and protagonists that had goals that stretched further than testing one's faith.
These questions were the first real seeds of Man of Sin. Then, after watching one of the many documentaries on the History Channel about the end of the world, I realized that the Anti-Christ is always portrayed as someone that’s inherently evil. For instance, Damien Thorn from The Omen came out of the womb evil. This brought me to another question, one that would be the foundation of Man of Sin, and that was what would an ordinary person do, if one day, they found out they were the Anti-Christ, responsible for destroying the world?
My answer seemed obvious, no "normal person" would destroy the world. Unless, of course, something happens that fundamentally changes that person.
Man of Sin is a character driven story about an everyman who embarks on a dark and twisted journey that changes him from a man who just wants the truth into the Anti-Christ willing to destroy the world.
