A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
Every so often, an invention comes along that sells itself. “This makes so much sense,” customers will say. “Why didn’t someone think of this sooner?”
That’s what we expected to hear when we told the world about the next step in do-it-yourself security: The TOVNET Light Bulb Security Camera.
What if we told you anyone could install a full-featured, remotely operated security system in their
home, office, garage, back yard or shed just by flipping a switch? That was our vision for our new
security technology. We set out to design a device that would combine all the best features of an LED
bulb and an independent wireless security camera and we like to think we’ve succeeded.
We are currently working with the South Korean Government and the Transportation Authority to install our cameras all over bus stops in South Korea!
Literally as simple as replacing a light bulb. The socket provides the unit with power, and
your mobile device, smartphone or custom remote provide control through the included wireless
network interface. Is it obtrusive or distracting? Not at all. In fact, with the light on, it’s virtually
impossible to see the camera at all.
Meanwhile, you will receive high-definition, streaming real-time video of everything in the camera’s
wide-angle view of up to 120 degrees. The picture quality is stunning, and if you want to monitor what
is happening, you can view and record H.264 video or images through the web or on your mobile
device or smartphone.
The Light Bulb Security Camera is an all-in-one unit and includes everything you need to set up on-the-
spot security anywhere you can install a light bulb. Such as home, office, warehouses, restaurant, child daycare center, backyard, garage etc.
Locations where TOVNET is currently installed : Companies, Enterprises, Apartments, Schools, Shopping malls, Restaurants, Café, Hospitals, Warehouses, and Churches in South Korea.
We believe this is the best option for customers interested in security but not ready to build or install
permanent fixtures or a storage network. With this new technology, anyone can build a security
system of nearly any complexity. That is why we launched a crowdfunding initiative to fund
development and bring this exciting next-generation technology to market. We would like to invite you
to make a contribution to our campaign and make the Light Bulb Security Camera a reality for
homeowners, business owners and families around the world.
Q: Is there an open API for this Lamp\Camera? that that is to make it possible to control and read from it using a third party software (Home automation software, IFTTT, etc).
A: For security issues, we do not provide open API. However, upon business collaboration model we may consider doing so.
Q: What kind of connectivity does it support? WIFI, Z-wave, Zigbee, Bluetooth, etc.
A: Tovnet uses WIFI connection
Q: How independent are the camera and light in terms of control?
A: TOVNET camera and LED light can be controlled by motion detection via mobile application menu selection.
Q: Does it support sending the video feed directly over the connectivity mean it uses ?
A: The video can be streamed between TOVNETcam and user’s mobile phone directly. There is no cloud storage server.
Q: Does the light come on manually or automatically via motion detection.
A: TOVNETcam has a motion detection function and it works automatically by motion control menu selection.
Q:Can the light and camera be independently motion controlled? For instance, one only wants the light to come on via motion control and not video, or one only wants the camera to be motion controlled but not the light. How long does the light and or video record for when it detects motion. Can the motion detection sensitivity be adjusted?.
A: When TOVNETcam detect motion, the LED light can be turned on for 2 minutes and can record using a microSD card. The motion detection sensitivity can be chosen by 3 levels, low, medium, and high.
Q: Can the light control via motion control be adjusted to only work between the hours of darkness?
A: The LED light has a timer function, thus the user can set up time to turn on and off easily via mobile application.
Q: Whats to stop a thief who sees the light come on, notices the camera in the light, then takes the unit off and runs away?
A: In order to prevent theft, you can use a light protection bulb socket that you can purchase at any light fixture or hardware store such as this:
Q: Does the light switch always have to be on? Or the light within the camera work independently on the switch with power always running to the camera?
A: Electric power must always be on.Electric power is running between 110 ~ 240 volts.
Q: What about puck lights with a dimmer? Ok and safe to use with this product?
A: Yes you can use puck lights with a dimmer for this camera.

Risks and challenges
We have been in development for the last five years from tovnets first concept being in 2011. From our earliest model we began constructing a high tech solution to a huge problem all over the world. We wanted to make a product where an average user will be able to install our security system anywhere anytime. After many years of trial and error and testing different models we were finally convinced that the current model is the most practical and efficient way to monitor your home, work or anywhere you want.
We began our partnerships with several factories in China to produce our light bulb cameras and have been testing in our local market for the last year and a half. Aside from the hardware, the most critical part of this system is with the software and app development, which is where we excelled and thrived. We are currently in clinical testing with some of the largest companies in South Korea and also major university campuses all over South Korea. Our feedback has been extraordinary and the not so good feed backs were remedied quickly. We are now ready to start mass production and to start spreading our products all over the world. With your help, I know we can achieve this goal. Thank you for your support!
