I'm Liz Painter and I'm a singer-songwriter living in Taos, New Mexico. I am almost finished with my third studio album in CD format.
Being a singer-songwriter is a life path for me. And one of the best parts is when a song just comes straight through... and it's just my job to catch it! That's what happened with the title track of my new CD called "Perfect Girl".
We made an official video for the song at a local theater. The video was edited and directed by visual effects producer, Michael Van Himbergen.
The New CD
We've recorded 13 tracks for the new CD. The record spans a variety of themes, moods and genres from rock and roll, to folk and country western. There are songs about magic and saving the planet, the struggles of single motherhood, time travel and intense love relationship.

Here's a tune with a coffeehouse vibe called "Sidewalkbye"
Here's one more track to check called, "You're My Boat"
I feel I am responsible to the songs I write. It is my job to see they get into the world...
Perfect Girl is backed by Chris Burton on lead guitar. Mike Caron on drums and bass, and Barnaby Hazen on bass. Chris and I have been working together musically since we met in 1997 in Tucson, Arizona. Chris, Mike and I have been collaborating to record this new CD over the last two years. It's been a fun process to explore our creative ideas and then hear them come alive! We have kept the record simple, with the sound of our live show as a foundation that connects the emotional and poetic journey of my lyrics, melodies, and stories. The music comes out… and we love it. Sometimes magical… sometimes cathartic.
The Liz Painter Band has played some exciting shows, including their last CD release bash at the World Famous KTAOS Solar Center with headliner Susan Gibson, who wrote the Grammy winning song, Wide Open Spaces, made famous by the Dixie Chicks. Nationally renowned songwriters and musicians, Don Richmond and Don Conoscenti added their talents to the event too!
Friend and musical collaborator, Rodger Cloud, provided his award winning Cloud ribbon microphone to record vocal and instrument tracks for the" Perfect Girl" project.
And now it's almost finished! There are just a few more things to do...
I am so grateful to enjoy a creative process and and to be able to share my songs with you. Please help to finish these steps and pre-order a CD today.
You can hear more of my music and songs from my first two records:
But, I am especially excited about the music on this new record!
I feel fortunate to have music to turn to in times of joy, and sadness, excitement and moments of relaxation. Music softens and supports my friendships and bridges the gaps in my world. Ideally, I like to wake up in the morning and just be creative for five or ten minutes. Often those few moments playing my instrument become the new song I am writing.
And when I'm not working on my own music, I am often teaching music lessons. In turn, I feel inspired by my students and this musical path I am on continues to deepen each day.
I look forward to connecting with you as a lover or music or a fellow creative through the process of fulfilling these rewards!
