About this project
Over the past 4 years of attending the School of Creative and Performing Arts (SDSCPA) in San Diego, California, the members of Jazz Avenue have stumbled upon an intricate arrangement of musicians that have incredible chemistry and make amazing music together. Though we never officially performed as a "band" before prior to 2012, we've honed our musical skills and built up a bond that has evolved into a refined sound that makes both us and our listeners and audiences dance and feel good.
In November 2011, we entered the SchoolJamUSA's national teen "Battle of the Bands", with no expectations. We quickly put together a recording of an original song and decided on the name, "Jazz Avenue", to market ourselves as during the competition. With the overwhelming support of our friends and family, we were selected from hundreds of other teen band entries around the US to compete against 7 other bands in the SchoolJamUSA Finals in Anaheim, California. We were extremely humbled by the opportunity to perform for the biggest crowd we've ever gotten to play for, against other bands who, for some, had already established themselves and had bigger gigs under their belt. Even though winning the competition seemed like a stretch, we decided that we would give it our all and make the experience as memorable and fun as we could for us and for those who supported us. We ended up taking 1st place and winning the entire competition.
From there, we've had so many people come up to us, asking for an album. After thinking it over for a while, we've realized that we have enough music for us to assemble a collection of our music. Though a majority of the band will be going off to college in the fall and going their separate ways, we would love to have the opportunity to document this group and keep our music alive through the creation of an album. It would also give us a chance to give back to all the people who have supported us as individuals and as "Jazz Avenue".
But of course, we can't get this album done without all of your help! We'd like to get this album as professionally recorded, mixed, mastered, and packaged as possible, ensuring the best musical product that we can make. With the help of Kickstarter, we are looking to raise $1,000 to pay for:
-Mixing and Mastering
-Album packaging and distribution
and a lot of other things that are involved in the creation of this album! Your contribution to this project is not only financial, but you become a part of a musical product that will live on through time. We have a set of rewards that you can earn by contributing to our album (see side for what they are). We hope that this project is successful so we can share our music to the world!
We thank you so much for all of your support! Every little pledge counts! :)
