Gamer Nation Con 6: Gamers Assemble
Gamer Nation Con is a tabletop and role playing convention, back for year 6! 4 Days of Gaming Greatness in Plano, Texas April 4-7, 2019
This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Thu, November 22 2018 4:00 AM UTC +00:00.
GamerNation CON 6 is April 4-7, 2019
GamerNation Con is 4 Days of Gaming Goodness (4DoGG) that will be held April 4-7 at the Dallas Games Marathon facility in Plano, Texas just north of Dallas.
The 6th Annual convention for d20Radio and Gamer Nation Studios is upon us - and it's all thanks to you! For the past five years, we've rocked two huge gaming rooms and played thousands of hours of games as the-little-Con-that-could has grown and grown! But Gamer Nation Con 6: Gamers Assemble promises even more super-heroic flights of awesome, and this kickstarter is YOUR chance to support the 2019 convention, get badges and special rewards at a discount, nab some online goodies, and the chance to game with the podcast hosts you love the most!
Guest of Honor - Michael Witwer
An accomplished GM, renowned author, and fast-blooming industry legend; Michael is best known for his monumental, critically-hailed biography of Gary Gygax, "Empire of Imagination." His latest work, which has generated as much (if not more) buzz is the recently released "Dungeons & Dragons Art and Arcana," a full compendium and historical account of the artistic work that went into the creation of Dungeons & Dragons. Michael is also an old-school Star Wars junkie, and will be running games of classic WEG d6 Star Wars for our MVGs. He will have other sessions open to the general attendees as well, and will be hosting a Q&A panel on Saturday. We are thrilled to welcome Michael to 4 Days of Gaming Goodness!
NEW SPECIAL GUEST - ANDY HURLEY
Indeed, we will have a rock star in our midst at the con, as noted RPG enthusiast and expert percussionist Andy Hurley will be playing and running games for our attendees during the convention.
Andy, a Wisconsin native, joined Fall Out Boy in 2003 and also played in the band The Damned Things while FOB was on hiatus. With Fall Out Boy's return to mainstream, he has been touring with the band and unable to attend our little con until now! Many do not know that Andy has a particular affinity for Role-Playing games, finding The Order 66 podcast in the early days of d20Radio and showing his inner SWRPG geekiness in short order!
We are thrilled to announce that Andy will be able to join our convention this year and look forward to adding his gaming distinctiveness to our group!
Virtual Con Pack
All backers will get the Virtual Con Pack delivered with their rewards; a digital trove of modules, settings, and special games. EACH of these items will be run at GNCon 6, so they are guaranteed to be ready and in your hot little hands by the convention (since... you know... they kind of have to be), but some are already complete and will be delivered the day the Kickstarter ends!
- Aegis: Defenders of the Cosmos - GM Chris' 50+ page setting of cosmic superheroes for the Genesys Roleplaying Game, complete with pregen characters, character sheet templates, and player-aids. (Delivery: November - end of Kickstarter)
- Familiar - GM Chris' quirky 40+ page Genesys setting of high-magic with low-characters, where the PCs take on the role of magical familiars in a fantasy world, complete with pregen characters and character sheet templates. (Delivery: November - end of Kickstarter)
- City of Heroes Module - GM Phil's epic module/setting for Genesys, based on the classic City of Heroes MMORPG. (Delivery: April - at the end of the Con)
- Everyone is John - the convention cult-classic micro-RPG turned into a full-on game, expanded, revised, released by GamerNation Studios! (Delivery: March - before the Con)
- MORE COMING SOON! - as more content is secured for the Virtual Con Pack, we'll post it up - and give it to YOU!
The Convention Basics
Head to www.gamernationcon.com for the big details - but the Con will be open from noon to 2:00am on Thursday, 9:00am to 2:00am on Friday and Saturday, and 9:00am to 2:00pm on Sunday. Once again, it will be held at Dallas Games Marathon, with its amazing "gaming library" of thousands of titles - available for any convention attendee to use, free of charge, and has just been augmented with a ton of new releases from BGG.con and Essen!
This kickstarter is the ONLY way to guarantee yourself a ticket, so don't miss out! With walk-up traffic, the Convention sold out last year, and with our continual growth, we fully anticipate selling out the Con this year.
We have some amazing stretch goals planned for this year! Last year was one of our BEST kickstarters, ever - all thanks to you. This year, we want to BLOW IT OUT OF THE WATER, and we have some great new stretch goals to entice you!
A new feature of GamerNationCON 6: Gamers Assemble is the addition of Con Powers!!! These special gaming powers can be used by attendees to accomplish impossible feats of strength, fortitude, wit, and heroism (at least... in so far as it pertains to rolling some dice). Free re-rolls, character boosts, and more - which will make you a superhero at the table! But each power card you will be given with your badge is only usable once... so take care!
Events and Shenanigans
As always - every event at GNCon is FREE! As in years past, the best and brightest podcasters, writers, and fans will be registering events for RPG play, miniatures, board, and card games. Event Registration/Creation will open up in January, and Event Attendance ticketing will open up on March 1 for our MVGs and those with High GamerCred (March 3 for general attendees).
RPGs: There's hardly been a system or version that hasn't been run in some form or fashion at GamerNationCON. Scores of RPG games will be played from some of the most popular systems out there, and some you've never even heard of!
Tabletop Gaming: If you can dream it, we probably have it. The infamous DGM game library is available and we will have a couple of tournaments planned for the event roster (including a Hearthstone tournament planned for Friday night).
4DoGG After Dark: Saturday after 8pm, the convention will be open for those guests 21 years and older only, as rumor has it that the nefarious activities and open bar that happened last year will be reignited to a new, higher level of super-heroic debauchery.
Gamer Nation for the Community: Thursday, we have a night that shows The Gamer Nation can support the community in all kinds of ways and all 4-Day badge holders are invited to participate. (We will collect $20 at the door for any 3-day badge holders who wish to attend Thursday, as well). We plan on having some auction items and other activities to help the community. (More details coming soon...)
GamerCred: As our Con attendees have quickly learned, there is a game within GamerNationCON, itself: GamerCred. As you attend events, play and run games, and accomplish feats of awesome gaming during the Con, you will have the opportunity to earn GamerCred – special achievements for the Con, itself. These specialty button pins are collectibles that can attach to your badge or game bag – some extremely rare and difficult to achieve. Each achievement is also worth a GamerCred value that stays with you throughout all future GamerNationCONs. Not only will your GamerCred announce your epic status to other attendees, but as it grows you will be eligible to attend special gatherings, claim early event registration at future Cons, and take part in events only available to those with enough GamerCred.
XP and the Sunday Auction: Every year, GNCon has a mountain of games and SWAG available for our Sunday Auction - things that will make you drool. Each registered event you participate in (or run) will earn you XP: the only currency used to bid in the Sunday Auction. The more you play or run, the more XP you’ll earn, and the more currency you’ll have for the Auction. Each hour of a registered event you play in or run will earn you 10 XP, and it's EASY to register a game on-the-fly, if you happen to catch a PUG, or grab a title from the Library of Games. In other words - we give the currency to take home cold, hard, gaming SWAG just for playing as much as you can. Sound good? We think so, too.
Location and Housing
Location: Once again, we are at the Dallas Games Marathon Facility at 930 W. Parker Rd, Plano TX 75075.
Hotel: The Magnuson Hotel Park Suites will once again be the hotel of choice, and the room block is now available! The price per night is $75 - as long as you make sure to mention GamerNationCON when calling.
Contact Details for the Magnuson are: Address: 640 E Park Blvd, Plano, TX 75074 Phone: 972.578.2243
Convention Code of Conduct
4 Days of Gaming Goodness is going to be a fun time for all attendees. Most of us are old friends (even if just through the internet), and we trust each other. Having said that, the Convention Staff would be remiss if we did not advise all convention attendees, volunteers, guests, exhibitors, and staff members of our Convention Code of Conduct. Upon receipt of your badge, each attendee, volunteer, or exhibitor is acknowledging the acceptance of this expected code of conduct. (Legal guardians of minors attending the convention will assume responsibility of said minors to do the same.) Let’s keep this convention a fun, friendly, and safe environment!
Our convention code of conduct (CCoC) is located here.
Risks and challenges
In our 6th year, the risks are very low at this point, but there is always a schedule risk when flying guests of honor in to the convention. Content creation is just about complete this year, and our venue is locked in. We certainly believe this year's convention will be the best one yet.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
