Thank you to everyone who has made this kickstarter a tremendous success and we look forward to seeing you in April!
GamerNation CON 5 is April 5-8, 2018
GamerNation Con is 4 Days of Gaming Goodness (4DoGG) that will be held April 5-8 at the Dallas Games Marathon facility in Plano, Texas just north of Dallas.
The 5th Annual convention for d20Radio and Gamer Nation Studios is upon us - and it's all thanks to you! For the past four years, we've rocked two huge gaming rooms and played thousands of hours of games as the-little-Con-that-could has grown and grown! But Gamer Nation Con 5: The Order of the Gamers promises even more awesome and this kickstarter is YOUR chance to support the 2018 convention, get badges and special rewards at a discount, nab some online games, and some podcast related opportunities.
FUNDED!!! Let's S T R E T C H!
GamerCred: New Badges! Here is a sneak peek!
Guest of Honor - Sterling Hershey
A full time architect and game designer, Sterling Hershey worked on every incarnation of the Star Wars Roleplaying Game for West End Games, Wizards of the Coast and Fantasy Flight Games. During this time he was also a participant in the FidoNet Star Wars Echo. His screen name is SilverForce, and at GenCon in 2012, it was announced that he was one of the designers of Fantasy Flight Games new Star Wars-themed roleplaying game, Sterling has been a friend of the Order 66 Podcast and a frequent guest host for both the Wizards and FFG versions of the Star Wars RPG. He is also writing for the upcoming release of Genesys, the new RPG from FFG that takes the narratvie dice mechanics to a whole new level!
The Staggering Dragon: Dustin Kenyon (a long time d20Radio listener) and his friends have taken their love of technology and tabletop gaming to the next level with the creation of their own venture, The Staggering Dragon! As a proud co-sponsor of GamerNationCONs 4 and 5, this group of dedicated gamers is bringing their mobile, memorable, and utterly unique gaming experience back to the Con! Combining a 65" flat-screen multi-media game table with 3D props, game soundtracks, and traditional minis; the Staggering Dragon runs games like no other. Not only will the 'Dragon crew be running special events during GamerNationCON 5, but our MVGs will get a private game experience with them.
The Convention: Head to http://www.gamernationcon.com for the big details - but the Con will be open from noon to 2:00am on Thursday, 9:00am to 2:00am on Friday and Saturday, and 9:00am to 2:00pm on Sunday. Once again, it will be held at Dallas Games Marathon, and its amazing "gaming wall" of thousands of titles will be available for any convention attendee to use, free of charge, and has just been augmented with a ton of new releases from BGG.con and Essen! This kickstarter is the only way to guarantee yourself a ticket, so don't miss out. With walk up traffic, the Convention was 25 people shy of selling out last year, and with our continual growth, we fully anticipate selling out the event during the kickstarter this year. Planned Events: The continued planning for GNCon 5 is ongoing, but the following planned events are already on the map: Artemis is back for its fifth straight year, offering Co-op scenarios and GamerCred badges for events. The GamerCred system will have a more retired badges, and new ones will be published very soon. The secret badges will be given at the end of the convention for more fun times! The number of secret badges will be very limited in number, so don't worry. Hearthstone makes an appearance with a tavern tournament, we have another shot at a big delve (planned) and another mystery that will be revealed as a stretch goal.
Playtest Saturday - From 9am until 2pm, designers are welcome to show up and playtest their yet to be released games with convention attendees. Role Playing Games: Edge of the Empire, Age of Rebellion, Force and Destiny, Pathfinder, D&D, Fiasco, Mutants & Masterminds and much more on the way, with GMs Dave, Chris, and Phil each running modules out of the Gamer Nation Vault for attendees.
Tabletop Gaming: If you can dream it, we probably have it. The wall of games is available and we will have a couple of tournaments, one is a Hearthstone tournament that we are trying to put together for Friday night, and the other is a mystery! This will be announced as we move further into the kickstarter.
4DoGG After Dark: Saturday after 9pm, the convention will be open for those guests 21 years and older only, as rumor has it the nefarious activities and open bar that happened last year will be dwarfed this time around - as the legendary Canadian contingent returns in larger numbers!
Gamer Nation for the Community: Thursday, we have a night that shows The Gamer Nation can support the community in all kinds of ways and all 4-Day badge holders are invited to participate. We will collect $20 at the door for any 3-day badge holders who wish to attend Thursday as well. We plan on having some auction items and other actitivies to help the community.
More Events coming soon...
New Backer Zone: The backer zone is new for 2018, and will include a 100 page campaign that has 7-10 sessions worth of awesomeness. Set inthe Edge of the Empire setting, Crimson Stars: A Nar Shaddaa Ballad details the story of a group of smugglers trying to make their way in the outer rim. This will be released at the moment the campaign ends. In April, a Harry Potter Setting for Genesys will be released as well, written by GM Chris. GM Phil checks in with a Genesys setting modeled after the hit game "City of Heroes" and Dave is working on his Tron setting, both should be available in 2018, pending health factors. All backers at levels above the Backer Zone level will also have access to the zone.
Location: Once again, we are at the Dallas Games Marathon Facility at 930 W. Parker Rd, Plano TX 75075.
Hotel: The Magnuson Hotel Park Suites will once again be the hotel of choice, and the room block is now available! The price per night is $75, make sure you mention Gamer Nation Con when calling.

Risks and challenges
As we have been planning for the convention since literally the day after the last one, we face very little in terms of challenges. Of course, there is always a risk that the Guest of Honor may have last minute schedule changes or other critical events that may impact the convention, but the Con WILL go on as scheduled. If we have any problems, we will certainly keep everyone up to date.
Vault content is obviously our largest single risk, as commitments from our d20Radio contributors may be delayed due to life and career circumstances; which eliminated some of our content from 2017. The campaign and settings announced for 2018 are either complete, or will be run at the convention and released the next day (pending Genesys release). This is all the planned content we have, but we will be making all the character sheets completed by GM Hooly from our Isn't that special series available as they are completed in 2018.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
