The magic in OLIVERS was hatched by a team of athletic, innovative clothing designers in California.
None of us could find a short that was good-looking and performed at the highest level. The options out there just didn’t cut it - skimpy running shorts, baggy basketball shorts, overly technical hiking shorts. Forget the bright neon accents and cargo pockets.
Why can’t one pair of shorts take you on your run, into the ocean and around the city? You should look sharp in them the whole time. No compromises.
1. Keep design at the forefront of every decision.
2. Source only the highest quality components.
3. A continued focus on perfecting fit.
4. Promote health, wellness, and adventure.
This project came to life because we all agreed there wasn’t an athletic brand out there making products we wanted to wear. Dave took a leap of faith and left his job to scratch the entrepreneurial itch.
We weren’t interested in wasting time. We called upon the best technical pattern maker we knew - she's been doing work for the likes of Arc’teryx, Giro and Mission Workshop for over 30 years.
We prototyped the fit and took the shorts to a local factory that specializes in manufacturing technical garments. Having them down the street allowed us to iterate on the product multiple times in a short period. They've shared similar stories from when they were helping another Bay Area company grow - The North Face.
Where Your Money Is Going
We've spent over $5,000 of our own money in product development to get OLIVERS to this point.
However, as a new retail business, there are minimum order quantities that must be placed when sourcing both fabric and components (it's not easy being a small fish in a big pond).
If we hit our fundraising goal, your money will go directly into the production and manufacturing of the shorts and will allow OLIVERS to move forward making great products for our customers.
Risks and challenges
The team has done its best to mitigate the risks and challenges for this project.
We have a working prototype and can proudly state that the shorts are outstanding. We went through a 6 month development process and have all been sweating in them (yep, it's a little gross but we want you guys to get the best shorts possible).
Having worked with our manufacturer for 5 years we can vouch for their quality and reliability. We've got a production schedule and are confident in our suppliers and vendors for both the inputs and manufacturing.
That said, there are inherent risks of delay in the process. We will communicate with both our backers and our manufacturer throughout the campaign to ensure the fulfillment timeline stays true.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
