Set in the 1960s, this classical farce is about a bachelor, Bernard, who is engaged to three air-hostesses at the same time - without any of the women knowing about each other. In order to get away with this, he plans his 'busy' life around their timetables. Easy right? Well…you'd think so but things slowly start to get out of hand when his childhood friend Robert comes to stay, one of the air-hostesses has to come back because of bad weather and another surprises him with an early arrival. What will Bernard and his friend Robert do to keep the ladies apart?
Farcical Elements was set up by graduates from the Birmingham School of Acting. Farce is something we have a lot of interest in, and as a company of character actors, there is a lot you can do with comedy. There's nothing better than getting that laugh and enjoyment from an audience and performing something that anyone can relate to in some way.
Your donation will help towards the cost of hiring a performance space, the performance rights, getting costumes, props and furniture, creating the complex set full of doors - without which a farce cannot happen.
Once we get into rehearsals we will upload our video so keep checking back for more information!
Risks and challenges
The fast comedy and quick wit of farce will always present challenges within itself. With a three week rehearsal period and a month to advertise the show the entire company will have to work extremely hard on all aspects of the performance.
Without a full team of technicians and stage managers, sourcing costumes, props and furniture and building the set are tasks that will have to be done by the cast and director in addition to the busy rehearsal schedule. But to achieve the level of performance we are after, these are all challenges we are willing to take on. With our professional training, keen work ethic and your donations we can strive to achieve these goals.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
