The prototypes shown above were done in the last few days by the factory. I am trying to get minor changes done to the smartphone of the orange gnome (so it looks more like a smartphone) and a minor change to the cash the purple gnome is holding (to make the bills more recognizable), but what you see above will resemble the final product to at least 98%.
I also have some additional ideas for two more pimp gnomes (a green pimp gnome and a yellow pimp gnome) They would be along the same lines as the current prototypes but would have some different items. I will include these as stretch goals if their is enough interest beyond the initial funding.
In order to keep our (and your) costs down, we have elected to have white box packaging. In other words, these will not be retail packaged with fancy artwork on the box and plastic windows to see the product through the box, etc. Just a white box and form fitting Styrofoam to safely house the gnome inside.
We will have them all shipped out within 4 business days of the time they arrive. Due to the size and weight of the gnomes, we can only ship within the US.
Below is the headless gnome we made a while back that went through a similar process as the pimp gnomes will go through with your help. That is, I conceived of the idea, got some outside help with the artwork, and went through the same US company to get these made overseas. It's currently available for sale online at several sites.
Risks and challenges
Although these will be made in China, we will be going through a large US company to have these made. This will allow us to use their "gnome-making" expertise (they've had thousands of traditional gnomes made already) and also allow us to get production up and running with a low minimum order requirement. The downside to this distribution chain is the cost per unit will be slightly higher.
I have already used this company before, including for a well-received headless gnome. (yes, really :)
