Character Inspiration & A Brief History of Bitcoin
Why Back Bitcoin Empire?
Bitcoin Empire is the result of passion and hard work. It combines the best gameplay mechanics of modern board games with the cutting-edged crypto-currency Bitcoin.
Liberation from the banking system
Bitcoin is a disruptive financial technology that came to the world less than one decade ago. It has the power to liberate us from the current corrupt and restrictive banking system. Even if you're not yet ready to buy Bitcoin; a pledge for Bitcoin Empire represents your support for this noble cause.
We want you to learn what’s really important in entrepreneurship and investing. Build your assets and build your wealth. Inject some real fun into learning about money and investing.
Bitcoin Empire is like the modern equivalent of Cashflow by Robert Kiyosaki.
Play tested thoroughly
Bitcoin Empire has been rigorously play tested for nearly a year by us, our friends, work colleagues, bitcoin enthusiasts and other board game geeks.
The perfect Christmas gift
The game makes the perfect gift for anyone with an interest in either Bitcoin or tabletop games. It opens the gateway to Bitcoin for board game enthusiasts and vice versa. So that's Christmas sorted.

How to Play Bitcoin Empire
Remove all Character cards from the deck. Each player chooses a Character card and places it face up in front of them. Shuffle the deck thoroughly and deal two cards to each player. The player to the left of the dealer takes the first turn.
Each turn is comprised of three phases (see Turn Phases). After each turn the player to the left takes the next turn.
№ 1 Mining Phase
Draws a card, secretly looks at it and place it face down under each of your exchanges and character.
№ 2 Draw Phase
Add one card to your hand. Either draw a card from the deck or pick up a face down card from your exchanges or character.
№ 3 Action Phase
Reveal one card from your hand to the other players and resolves it's function.
Characters & Exchanges
Each Character card and Exchange card allows cards from the deck to be placed face down below it. This is called storage. The maximum storage for each Character card or Exchange card is denoted by the number of yellow bitcoin icon. An Exchange card cannot be targeted for attack once its storage is full. Each Character card has a number of skills denoted by the brown, green and red icons representing Law, Coding and Marketing respectively.
A player can increase their Character's skills by tucking cards featuring skill icons underneath their Character card. A player can take another player's skill card to their hand if they reveal and discard a Head Hunter card from their hand during the action phase. The victim can simultaneously reveal and discard a Bribe card from their hand to negate the attack.
If a player tucks the Satoshi Nakamoto card under their Character card, all face-up Internet Meltdown cards on the table must be discarded.
A player can target another player's Character or Exchange for attack if they reveal and discard one of the three attack cards (Lawsuit, Hack or Smear Campaign). However, the attacking Character must have more Law skill than the victim in order to use a Lawsuit card and the same for the other two attack cards. The victim can simultaneously reveal and discard a Bribe card from their hand to negate the attack.
If a Character or Exchange is successfully attacked, it's storage must be discarded without anyone seeing these cards. The Exchange card will be passed from the victim to the attacker's hand.
The Action Phase (in more detail)
In the action phase a player can perform one of the following: build an Exchange by placing an Exchange card from their hand face up in front of them (to the right of their Character card), move a card from their hand to their storage, increase their Character's skill, attack another player's Character or Exchange, take another player's skill card to their hand using the Head Hunter card.
End Of The Game
The game ends as soon as the last card is drawn from the deck. If the card was drawn in the mining phase it can be placed face down under a Character card or Exchange card. The player that draws the last card cannot play their action phase. The player with the most face down cards in front of them wins the game.
Print & Play
Every pledge level includes a free PDF that you can print and play with at home.

Risks and challenges
Tabletop gamers with an interest in Bitcoin are a challenging target audience to find. We cannot change people’s taste but we can guarantee to deliver a trendy and innovative card game. We try our best to fulfill the most important criteria of a good game by incorporating multiple use card and deck building strategies. By doing so, we guarantee the most replay value and enjoyment for of our backers that make a pledge on our unique card game.
Ting is studying for a master’s degree in International Media and David has a day job as a web developer so it requires a huge amount of project management skill to run Bitcoin Empire in parallel. Excellence and delivery is required in our jobs and studies and we have transferred these skills when creating Bitcoin Empire.
Bitcoin Empire is our first Kickstarter project and we failed to reach our goal in the first attempt at crowed funding in August. We have learned a lot from that experience and we have spent a huge amount of time researching the logistics of delivering the game. This is on top of the weeks of play-testing and designing of the game itself.
To ensure maximum benefit to you our backers we wanted to work with excellent partners in the industry who have been tested and internationally renowned. To that end the manufacturing of Bitcoin Empire will be handled by MakePlayingCards.com who are experts in game manufacturing and have created 100s of games in the industry including games like Carson City. We have already agreed the components, upgrade costs and delivery costs with them. They are just waiting for our signature once (we hope!) the project gets funded this time. All products will be shipped from MakePlayingCards.com and we will stock a few extra products to replace any that are lost or damaged in the post.
Rest assured the product will be delivered to you with excellent quality.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
