New Junji Okubo Artwork; Marauder Strike Suit

Posted by Born Ready Games (Creator)

This landed in our inbox today; brand new artwork for the Maruader Strike Suit, courtesy of our mecha designer Junji Okubo.

The Marauder Strike Suit - exclusive to our Kickstarter backers - is available at all tiers at $50 and above. To answer a question some of you have raised: the Maruader is more than just a cosmetic change over the Durandal Strike Suit already in the game; it'll have different stats and attributes, strengths and weaknesses, and thus handle differently.

Seeing as there's no multiplayer planned and thus no major issues with balance, I don't see why people have their panties up in a bunch over this. Too bad for you.

I paid $50 instead of $20 not because I wanted the extra content (because who would pay $30 for an additional robot?!) but because I wanted to support a small dev. It's a nice gesture of thanks to see that they made a unique suit instead of just a reskin.

Whelp, it was a close shave. Still, achieving 175% of the initial goal is nothing to scoff at. Congrats to the team, looking forward to the beta.

Considering all these stuff being kept back and DLC plan not really revealed, I decide to lower the pledge to the minimum $15, (apparently someone upgraded or unpledged). So if you guys really do a good job, I can pay for the extra DLC or suits, but other than that I'm putting my money on Star Citizen.

Honestly, I do not like that it is statistically different.
If it was just a skin, I'd not be bothered. but something that is actually different to play with, it feels like I am being punished for not being able to increase my pledge.

I'm not going to unpledge or anything like that, I still want this game, I just don't like it when games have exclusive content you are locked out of that actually has statistical differences from what you can use.
If I could afford a higher pledge, I'd have done that in the first place.
But its like, "Haha, you are not financially well off, here's a bit of game you can't have."

Hey, @bornreadygames, can you confirm your game will play well on Windows 8 ? I'm sure it will be, but, I you can confirm.
      Thanks.

      Reminds me of Macross.

Are there other strike suits that the player earns throughout the game, based on either performance or progress, or is the Marauder the only chance that exists to have a suit other than the default?

If there are others, is the Marauder statistically better than all in-game attainable strike suits?

      Exclusive is already enough.
And that other line is always said by developers (why admit it right?) so it can not really mean to much even if true since most often those items do provide bonusses over other items even if only in the beginning. Just basing it on the last X years of gaming of both indie and (big) publisher games.
      -
Other KS have done exclusive KS items aswell and most have retracted their decission and made it timed exclusive or will offer it as DLC to late buyers.
Making it open to everyone (in one way or some time) would make me pledge back.

@TheChosenOne: Which part of the word "weaknesses" you missed? I wouldn't call it a bonus. Yes it'd be an exclusive item but I don't think it'd be an unbalanced unfair suiit that triumphs over the stock one.

@TheChosenOne -- the Marauder isn't a bonus or a cheat item in any way, it's just slightly different to the Strike Suit we have in the game at the moment. Apologies if this disgruntles you in any way -- shoot us a line if we can address any concerns you might have or alleviate your worries in any way.

Thanks for your support up until this point anyway :)

Ok I'm unpledging then. I'm sick of exclusive rewards which provide bonusses (wether it is an early only cheat item or not) of big publishers and I was hoping KS projects can be an exception but alas.

You guys at Born Ready sound so calm and collected. I only pledged some cash and yet still have been checking back here whenever I can share a few minutes. Can't imagine how it is for the people behind the game. I'd probably go nuts if I were in your place.

Any office riots yet? Looting? Wanton partying? ... spontaneous formation of primitive hunter&gatherer societies? C'mon, there has to be something.

    13. Paul Ulrick on

I actually prefer this design over the default one. :p

No, the Maruader won't be in the beta I'm afraid. But yes, at launch you'll be able to pilot this puppy!

    15. Shepard on

      Looks awesome!

Mmm.. that's what I'll be flying soon!

Will the Marauder be available in the Beta, or will that come later with the official release, for those of us that both are getting a Marauder AND are in the 1000?
