Fade is an thought provoking Action RPG set in the remains of a forgotten god. Fade is a game with unique game-play and dark medieval art style.
The player, a stranger to whom they once were, must gain strength and escape their new-found imprisonment in a forgotten kingdom. A strange clock counts down upon the players arrival. It seems to only count to 10, with each tick representing a passing day. What does it mean? Will you go further?
Where?:Within a forgotten god's hollow and forgotten soul lies the remains of a lost age. An unknown kingdom deep within becomes home to the fate-less and the determined. The lands around it are bleak and empty. Incredible lands writhe with treasure and discovery.
How?:The player is blind to their purpose in this world they've awoken in. Its up to them to discover it. With the people around them and the unknown goals ahead, how will you choose to move forward.
Who?: In FADE, the character begins simplistic and slowly gains in strength and knowledge of the world around them. The character will gain certain talents and abilities based on their accomplishments and choices.
The Dwindled Knight: An aged man dressed in rusted and untended armor who holds his crest sacred, but what is there to fight for with an unheard and empty creed.
Special Item - Rusted Crest - Holding it tightly gives you a strength that makes all obstacles disappear. Close Range
The Withered Bowman: A lost scout defined and protected by nature. The woods are his home, his weapon, his armor.
Special Item - Dwindled Totem - A rune granting you sight beyond your limits and an accuracy known only to the past. Long Range
The Waning Sorceress: A user of the arcane arts who remembers nothing, but the spells within her books. She clenches onto the energy around her, the only familiarity she knows.
Special Item - Sealed Locket - It gives off a strange energy, somehow making everything "okay". The energy around you flows easy and without restriction. Medium Range
When players start using their characters they'll notice that they are not actually limited to weapon types. Each character can use the weapons and abilities of another class. This not only frees the player from limitations, but allows them to gain "Legendary Talents". With legendary talents two abilities combine in a new interesting way and double the utility. For example: Arrow Snare + Burning Blows = Searing Trap.
Things to do?:
Meet the forgotten: Meet strange and perplexing characters all battling their fates in different ways. The player will have to decide where they stand and figure out who in this dreary world is right.
Exploration: Throughout the kingdom are secrets just waiting to be discovered and obstacles awaiting your arrival. Head deep into the abandoned door and get a perspective that those of fearful hearts will never witness.
The Dungeon of Fates:Enter the door to a strange dungeon and face strange challenges seemingly ripped from someones experiences. Your power grows with every step and ever challenge accomplished. Most won't have the heart to join you in these travels. They've lost too many people to those doors to attempt it.Prepare to unite the souls around you, or leave them in the dark.
The Town: Despite the circumstances many have found purpose in life tasks, day to day jobs, or even just lumber around. It shows that in even the dreariest of situations people can still be themselves. The player will be able to interact with towns people for information, leisure, or even trade. There is nothing merchants love more than rare finds from within the dungeon.
Combat: Face unrelenting enemies and trials. The combat system in FADE is fast and aggressive. The player is very mobile and not afraid to move. Combat enemies that once walked in your very footsteps. Can you cut down someone just like you?
Inspiration: After seeing countless times where the game always decides upon a "chosen one" I wanted to create a game where you were like everyone else. Your actions decide who you are in this world and within ten days you get to see how you mattered.
The main reason why I sought after this project was to find my first real way into the world of game design. Over the years almost every professor or passerby has told me that jumping into this field is impossible. They said it would be difficult, but I persevered and taught myself how to use UE4 from scratch.
Objective: Enter the world as someone who has nothing and push to discover a purpose. Explore and discover things that most will overlook. Combat terrifying foes and make your character come to life before time counts down and the world fades.
Setting: A somber dark fantasy world writhe with powerful foes and adrift allies. The player can expect to explore giant caves, immense landscapes, and multiple kingdoms.
Core Mechanics: Branching Story, Companion System, Fast action combat, and Class based character advancement. In order to make it easier to take in the the visuals the hub world is first person, while the over-world is third person. This way its easier to tell when you should be prepared for combat.
Inspirations: I've always enjoyed solo adventure experiences where the player got to matter. Not the typical damsel in distress situation with an obvious person whose the "chosen one", but games where the player got the choice to play that role. Games like Way of the Samurai and Dragons Dogma really brought this genre to my attention. Earlier on though I was absolutely fascinated with the Fable Series, Black and White, Legend of Zelda: Majoras Mask and Twilight Princess. Ive always wanted to create a game with the freedom of a free roam and the story/game-play of an adventure game.
The Team: For now I am a solo act, but if anyone is interested I am open to offers.
Why Kickstarter: I wanted to get a good idea of what I was doing and just see who would be interested in the project. This is also a good way to build a community. I've been working on this project for quite a while and with much of the framework complete it would be a blessing to get the funding for the game. Otherwise this is a nice field test to see who would be interested. Whether funding comes immediately or whether it happens at all I will continue to work on this game and improve it.

Risks and challenges
The only challenge I have is turning my character concepts into 3D models. My art is effective and detailed, but I just lack the resources and abilities to create high quality character models.
