About
My name is Michal Martyniuk. I'm a young, polish born pianist and composer living in Auckland, New Zealand. I have a classical and jazz background, but what I love most in music is groove and soul.
THE MISSION
My goal is to make jazz popular again. I would like to build a bridge between people who love jazz and people who don't really understand or get it and chose to listen to “music on the radio". I am not saying that popular music is no good I am only saying that if jazz could be a bit more accessible more people could get into it and love it.
I love improvised music but it feels like often jazz can be hard to understand for people without musical education. I think jazz music could be a lot more popular then it is. People simply need to be introduced to it in a way that doesn't put them off straight away.
THE INSPIRATION
Last year I started writing new material. I wanted to record my first jazz album. I wanted it to be more improvised then my last record I've made with my friend, producer Nick Williams although still with the same goal: Make my music accessible to everyone.
My last record "Odyssey" by After 'Ours:To look for inspiration I moved back to Poland. The country I was born in. It wasn't long until I found the right band and started rehearsing and playing lots of gigs. I haven't been back home for almost 10 years and only then I did realise how much I had missed it.
“NOTHING TO PROVE”
I feel like the music I was writing was filled with happiness and sadness at the same time. I really wanted to capture those feelings. I was lucky to spent a few days in the studio in Poland where we started recording the new material for my debut album I called: “NOTHING TO PROVE”.
This is a very special record to me. The people involved in making this album are best in the business. We feel that more people then just musicians will appreciate what we have created.
We mange to make a promo video from the material that we started recording in Poland so please check it out:
THE PLAN
It is going to be a full album of 8 tracks released on CD and Vinyl. It will also be available on all digital platforms like: iTunes, Spotify, BandCamp and more.
I need to find money to finish recording the album and to be able to promote it and share it with people around the world.
WHERE WILL THE MONEY GO:
- additional recording (8 track album): $2000
- mixing the album: $2000
- mastering the album (CD and Vinyl): $1000
- cover and digipack design: $1500
- pressing CD’s and Vinyl: $3000
- marketing and promotion: $3000
My ultimate goal is to reach the minimum amount of $12.500
I really believe in this project and with your help I will be able to share my music and play live concerts around the world. I would love to continue our journey of bringing people together and introducing more people to jazz and improvised music.
