We're happy to introduce 42tea: the best way to prepare, discover and enjoy tea!
42tea aims to offer tea drinkers the best taste experience and transform each cup of tea in a delightful moment. With our application linked with a connected cube you will be guided throughout each steps of preparation (tea/water quantity, brewing temperature, brewing duration) with unique recommendations calculated for your taste and your taste only! Our application works with all varieties and brands of tea and includes recipes for cold and hot beverages.
Did you know that each tea has specific preparation instructions? For example a very good Gyokuro (green tea) brews at 115°F for 2 and half minutes, an ordinary Sencha (other green tea) brews only 1 minute at 195°F and a Bai Mu Dan (white tea) needs almost 20 minutes at 140°F.
You want some more ?
We have designed a station dock to put down your cube on it. When we thought about the cube, we have been told that it could be nice to have a dedicated dock where you can put your device after preparing your tea, in order to not put it down on your table. This becomes a well-designed object that you will be proud to show to your invites when you organize your own tea ceremony. Why wood? Because we believe that every objects should use noble materials. In addition, this dock will help us to package the rewards and use the minimum of carton or plastic parts to protect them.
As it is really important to store your tea away from light and heat, 42tea has created these beautiful Tea Storage containers. They are made of solid wood, so this is the best solution to preserve tea's full flavors. Not only it is a well-design object but it also contains a chip that works with the cube.
The cube recognizes automatically the tea inside the storage (as you had previously register it in the settings of the app).
The storage container's capacity is 1.76 oz (50g)
At the end of the Kickstarter campaign, production will begin. We expect to deliver the products before Christmas 2016.

We're a team splitted between Clermont-Ferrand, in Auvergne (France) and in our subsidiaries in San Francisco (CA) and New York (NY), in the US. We appreciate good food, good wine and good tea! We believe less is more, experiences are better than things, and functionality and design can coexist. We are all motivated to fulfill our passion of tea and help people educate their palate.
In addition, as 42tea will participate once again at the CES in Las Vegas in January 2017 (booth 50825 on eureka park), we will be delighted to meet backers IRL to enjoy a perfect cuppa.

42tea a pour vocation d’offrir aux consommateurs de thé la meilleure expérience gustative possible afin que chaque tasse soit un moment de plaisir. Pour cela nous proposons un assistant couplé à un cube connecté qui vous guidera à chaque étape (dosage eau / thé, température d'infusion, temps d'infusion) avec des préconisations uniques puisqu'elles seront calculés en fonction de vos goûts. Notre application fonctionne même avec les thés des autres marques et pour toutes les préparations chaudes ou glacées.
Saviez-vous que chaque variétés de thés à des consignes de préparation spécifique? A titre d’exemple un très bon Gyokuro (thé vert) s'infusera à 45° pendant 2 minutes 30 quand un Sencha ordinaire (autre thé vert) s'infusera à 90° en une minute ou un Bai Mu Dan (thé blanc) qui nécessitera jusqu'à 20 minutes à 60°.

Vous voulez exhiber fièrement votre cube, ou simplement le protéger des salissures qu'il y a parfois sur un plan de travail ? Accompagnez le alors de son socle vertical en hêtre massif. La noblesse du matériau et la pureté du design sublime le cube connecté et lui donne plus de prestance dans votre cuisine.
Afin de conserver votre thé dans de bonnes conditions, 42tea a créé ces magnifiques boîtes à thé. Elles sont en hêtre massif, d'une pièce, sans assemblage. Elles ne sont pas seulement belles, elles sont aussi intelligentes: en posant le cube au-dessus, il va instantanément reconnaître le thé qui se trouve à l'intérieur de la boîte (nécessite une phase de paramétrage très simple dans l'application). La contenance de la boîte à thé est de 50g.
À la fin de la campagne Kickstarter, la production commencera. Nous planifions de vous livrer avant Noël 2016.

Pour réussir ce projet, nous sommes répartis en deux équipes : une en France et une en Californie, à San Francisco. Nous apprécions tous la bonne cuisine, le bon vin et aussi le bon thé ! Notre travail est porté par les valeurs de plaisir, de créativité et d'excellence et nous sommes animés par le désir de partager notre passion d'éduquer le palais de chacun au thé
Nous donnons également rendez-vous au CES en janvier 2017 à Las Vegas pour venir rencontrer l'équipe 42tea (stand 50825 sur l'eureka park) et partager avec nous une bonne tasse de thé.
Risques et défis
The main focus of this kickstart is to raise funds for tooling and manufacturing for the first round of production. The main challenge will be to get the tooling (plastic injection moulding) done precisely and quickly. Good communication and project management will help to keep tooling and production on track. With the highly skilled design and production team we have assembled to help with the engineering and cad drawings of this product we will be able to quickly address problems as they arise with expertise and experience. In addition, the production factory is really close from our headquarters, so we will be able to fix some potential problems very quickly.
Ensuring product quality is a typical challenge. The team we have built will be assisting 42tea to ensure the production of the IoTea cube is up to the high quality standards we set. We have also built in extra time in the tooling and manufacturing phase to handle the unforeseen issues that typically arrive in such projects.
Fulfillment is usually a challenge. To reach the funding goal we will be fulfilling many orders in a short period of time. Our experience running previous e-commerce site has prepared us to meet this challenge. We have scheduled more than sufficient time in the production plan to meet our fulfillment deadline. Everything needed for fulfillment is already in place, all we need is your support and we will put the 42tea IoTea cube into your hands!
