About this project
Imagine a singles' cruise in the Bermuda triangle: sunburns, distastefully decorated drinks, drunkards and lonely hearts roaming the hallways looking for love. Then a zombie infection hits the ship and suddenly the desperate need for company gets a whole new meaning...
Zombie Cruise is an episode based romantic action adventure game for the iOS and hopefully later on to PC as well. The first episode is well on its way and we just need a little push from the community to have the means to finish it.
Zombie Cruise isn't just another zombie shooter: it's a challenging game of humor, romance and action. Resorting to violence won't get you far - it will get your brains eaten. Survival calls for devious planning, fast reflexes and mastery of the art of hitting on hot babes.
Beneath all the action and humor lies a deeper story of lost love and the hard way of becoming a selfless hero. Our protagonist is the ships DJ, Alex. He is a shallow bastard, who actually just got hurt in the game of love. And the zombies are and allegory for the obstacles he has on his way while searching for true love.
As all gentlemen know, avoidance is the best defense against scorned ex-girlfriends. And what works for enraged members of the fairer sex should work for zombies as well. If you manage to find a couch or a soda machine to duck behind, you will be virtually invisible to anyone passing by.
Fighting is bad idea, since zombies feel no pain and their brains are already mush. Punching them out will buy you some time. If you should get a taser in your hands, a hefty zap might work as well.
Everybody knows people who enjoy rave parties are utterly brainless. Similarly, so are zombies, and playing party music will attract the party zombies to the dancefloor.
It's a known fact that some people come to the cruise just for the amazing, all-you-can-eat buffets. If these lumbering piles of lard end up with a zombie infection, their appetite is inextinguishable. Announce a free buffet and they all rush to the nearest restaurant.
Since you are hunky enough you can just walk up to a lovely lady and make your move. Making out will make zombies think you're one of them enjoying a fresh victim. And of course, the zombies won't attack the bimbos, for there isn't much flesh among all that plastic, and even less brain matter to devour.
It is hard to tell the difference between a zombie and a sauced up party animal, so it is better to avoid them, no matter how inviting the conga line looks. Drunkards also have the habit to engage you to loud and pointless conversations prone to attract any zombies in the vicinity.

Tuonela Productions is an independent multi-platform game studio from Oulu, northern Finland. Our passion is to make innovative games that touch people from topics that move people. And what would be a better mix than a humoristic love story and zombies, combined with a hero's journey!
Our team is a versatile combination of professional game-makers, whose backgrounds vary from coders and graphic designers to masters of literature, history and cultural anthropology.
Zombie Cruise is nearing completion, but we still lack monetary means to finish it. With the requested meagre amount of money we can fund two extra months to finish the first episode, buy sound effects and more music for the game and have it polished and fun for you.
However, we hope we would gather a bit more, because we would love to deliver the full story to you, how we have envisioned it. Not wanting to spoil the plot, here's how the three episodes would differ from one another in the larger scale and what is the main goal of the episode:
Introduction to the characters and the ship, and the growing confusion concerning what is going on: it takes a while before people believe that it's not just a regular stomach flu that's affecting people. The player is not a hero yet.
The infection grows worse and the emergency becomes real. The player needs to make sure the ship is stopped so that the infection won't spread to Miami. The player will get more means to deal with the zombies.
Saving the day. Player needs to save himself and his loved ones and escape from the ship. The intensity grows and the shift from sneaking to action is completed and player has even more means to deal with the zombies.

The concept of zombies on a cruise ship is too grand to be only a game and nothing more. We're cooperating with the film industry on this baby and Timo Turunen and Ville Jankeri are working on a feature film on the origins of the infection. The production company is the same that is behind 'nazis on the moon' film, Iron Sky!
