IR Detector: Proximity Sensor for toys, robotics, and drones
Open Source Infrared Sensor that works with Arduino and Raspberry Pi.
This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Thu, January 24 2019 11:36 PM UTC +00:00.
Muxall open source Infrared Detector (IRD) for reflective sensing, light curtains, and fast proximity applications. Works with Arduino (5V) and Raspberry Pi (3.3V) TTL.
- Reflective sensor for hand dryers, soap dispensers, water faucets, and toilet flush valves.
- Security and pet gates.
- Person or object vicinity activation.
- Fast proximity sensors for toys, robotics, drones, and much more!

The Power Of Many
Here is the Bill Of Materials just to buy the parts for 10 IRDs.
That's about $5 per IRD not assembled. If we factor in the cost of assembly, KS fees, and shipping, the only way to make the numbers work is by making lots and lots of IRDs; about 1000 assembled IR Detectors will do the trick!

Risks and challenges
Common risks are out of stock components, trade wars with China and other unknown factors that will cause delays in product delivery. To overcome these issues we would have to spec alternate components, source from different countries, and deal with the unknowns.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
