Ever wonder why we stopped putting people on the moon? Well, part of the reason is cost, the other is technology.
A traditional bell engine rocket makes two things impossible: a truly reusable rocket, and a single stage to orbit rocketship. Because bell rockets are inefficient at different altitudes, different bell engines are needed for different altitudes, hence the need for at least three stages to get people to orbit......and that gets very expensive.
Enter the Aerospike Engine. An engine that has no issues with altitude, because it is a variable altitude rocket engine, it maintains efficiency throughout the flight. This means that you can have a rockeship that acts like a jet plane: fly it up, deposit your stuff, fly it back, refuel and then do it all over again. A truly reusable rocket ship.
This technology makes it possible. We have the engineers that are working on it at StonyBrook University, we have a state grant that paid for roughly half of the project, we even have the clients to sell the project to once its done, we just need your help to finish the funding so we can build the prototype.
Risks and challenges
There are many obstacles to building a rocket engine, at the very least you risk blowing yourself up. But that's why we have professional engineers and the University of Stony Brook backing us up.
