About this project
** Guaranteed to be in your hands by Thanksgiving **
There are a ton of ways to SUPER SIZE your life. From a fast food order to those extra big SUV's, so why is it that we still putz around with tangled strings of tiny (almost invisible) lights at Christmas time? We thought it was time to make a change with Really Big Lights.
The idea sparked while watching Christmas movies with my niece this past Holiday season. It was simple- design a decorative light that is cool and practical.. We landed on REALLY BIG and efficient. Like the name implies, Really Big Lights are epic decorative Christmas lights. Each light is over a foot tall, LED powered and designed to withstand the holidays year after year. Plus their universal hooking system make it a cinch to hang. Now you can be THE house on the block with the most Christmas swag day or night and it will be so much easier for Santa to find you too! Really Big Lights are energy efficient, weather resistant, UL approved and hundreds can be linked together on the same circuit, so you'll never run out of decorating possibilities.
The First Shipment of Really Big Lights is READY! (9/24 Update)
Each light is 14.5" tall and 6.55" wide. The design and functionality are both patent pending. They are sleek and durable. Each light is comprised of 1 0.6W LED and literally hundreds can be linked together on the same circuit. Each bulb puts out 14 lumens.
1 Box of Really Big Lights consists of:
5 individually corded LED powered Christmas lights. Together they span 15 feet on a house, apartment, tree, or city block! Its up to you how spread apart you want them to hang. Red, blue, yellow, green, & white make up the multi-color option. Hanging hooks are included.
Each light is made up of a 40" C9 cord connected to an E17 Base. The lamp is classified as a .06W LED that puts out 14 lumens. Classified under UL 588 (Decorative lighting outfits)
All White is available but in limited quantity.
We initially thought it'd be impossible to get Really Big Lights on the market by Christmas '15 but after learning CAD this Spring & multiple successful (and lucky) trips to China over the past 6 months we are now ready with completed molds and a finalized design; waiting anxiously to pull the manufacturing trigger.
For Trees AND the House
The green base of the Christmas lights will be used in the future to connect jack o'lanterns, 4th of July stars, Easter eggs, pure white party lights, and other Holidays. Not to mention solar power, clear bulbs with multi-colored LEDs, and a mobile app interface built into your smartphone to allow for timers & music-pairing. Much more in the works from the people of RBL.
The Future of RBL
16 color codes, dimmable, and Bluetooth enabled.
Decorating year round? Simply swap Christmas lights for Jack O' Lanterns!
We've done all we can to minimize the costs of shipping for the consumer by utilizing fulfillment centers in Los Angeles, Chicago, & Philadelphia. It still costs as much as $25 to ship to certain places in the country. We are not in the business of making profits off of shipping costs. We ARE in the business of decking out American & Canadian houses in the best Christmas swag.
My favorite Holiday memories are of my family and I driving through festive neighborhoods every December. Every single component of Really Big Lights is derived from personal experience with the decorator (mom) and installer (dad) in mind.

Risks and challenges
The risks in volume manufacturing are something we have forecasted since the beginning. Our OEM in China is top-of-the-line and we have taken every possible precaution to ensure that Really Big Lights are manufactured with the upmost concern for product reliability and quality control. We promise to keep backers updated during the manufacturing process.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
