One rainy afternoon, while catching a glimpse of the city from my window, I felt the urge to be in front of a shining azure sea. And so Eye+ was born.
Eye+ presents itself as a real window that can be built into false partitions and/or walls. It is extremely simple to install because only an electric power supply, a connection to a DVI signal - like a real TV - and an Ethernet connection are needed.
Eye+ is not, however, just an ordinary television.
All TVs reproduce more or less captivating footage thanks to 3D technology and high resolution video (Full HD), but Eye+ offers something more thrilling and engaging.
You will become the directors of what you want to see.
Eye+ uses a simple webcam that can observe the point of view of the person in front of it and change the perspective of the displayed scenario - as if we were standing in front of a real window. If we move to the right, we can see what is hidden behind the left border of the window and vice versa. If we move back we see the objects shrink, and enlarge when we move closer.
You could get in the morning and see the Golden Gate Bridge or the Eiffel Tower through your window; in moments of relaxation the view of a waterfall or the hot sun rising over a golden beach.
You will be immersed completely in your virtual reality, even hearing the flow of a river and birdsong.
Eye+ is not only a captivating game, but also an important home automation platform, useful in both home and commercial environments, such as offices and shops. It is the perfect solution in rooms, hotels and apartmens. It isn't a home automation only but the new concept in architecture.
Using Eye+ system, new technologies can be made available in homes for improving the quality of life. Turning on, turning off, controlling, receiving alarms, opening and heating even with simple SMS. All of the systems operate in harmony without complex installations thanks to built-in modules and system modularity.
With Eye+ no longer needs to be viewed as an expensive accessory only suited for very high level new implementations, on the contrary it is a set of solutions which can be offered for medium level implementations and to renovate existing systems, thanks to the availability of low cost products which are increasingly simple to install and operate.
The use of built-in modules in standard wall boxes also makes it possible to use the normal contact blocks and plates found on the market without compromising on aesthetics.
It can be used to switch on lights in your home, a Hi-Fi system, the air-conditioning or even to raise electric shutters – all thanks to Eye+ and its peripheral modules 4I, 4O and 2I2O. All this is possible not only with any Android smartphone or iPhone, but also with a remote via an Ethernet connection.
Eye+ is a modular system that you can assemble easily, with only a few simple instructions. If you already have a full HD television you can just buy the window-chassis Eye+xChassis, Eye+Logic and the peripheral modules that can be used to control your environment. You can buy Eye+SBC to optmize the system and save space, but you can use your desktop PC to run Eye+Logic.
Eye+ is a hardware/software system comprising 5 principle components :
It represents the true ‘heart’ of the Eye+ architecture. It allows the user to create programmable scenarios, both according to the time of day and the person’s presence in the room.
As such, it is possible to switch on a certain light at a pre-set time of the day and/or on a pre-set day with or without a person’s presence. It is also possible to decide which scenarios to display according to the time.
This software allows you to configure all peripheral modules connected to Eye+ (4I, 4O, 2I2O), associating each button or switch to the following actions:
- Switch on / Switch off
- Switch on / Switch off with timer
- Switch on / Switch off via iPhone or Android Smartphone
- Switch on / Switch off by remote via Ethernet
Available for Windows, Linux and Mac.
Eye+SBC is a Single Board Computer with the following characteristics :

Eye+ is a system that communicates with its peripheral modules (4I, 4O, 2I2O) both via a Bluetooth/Wi-Fi connection and an iPhone or Android smartphone.
The system can also be remote-controlled via an internet connection thanks to its own integrated web server.

Eye+xChassis is the container- structure in which the full HD 32” - 60” TV, SBC and AC power supply can be housed. The following colours are avaiable:

The realization of the first prototype was about a year ago…..
In the first prototype we used a common desktop pc (Windows - 1.8Ghz Dual Core - 4 GByte DDRAM) with the Microsoft Kinect as cam. The principal problem was the time delay of the face detection function. This work cost us about three months of software engeenering with a famous library (OpenCV). After this first step, we worked on migration to a Linux system, where performance and stabilty of the system was better. Only few month ago we started to work to running the software on a single board computer (SBC).
We used was the RaspBerry Pi, but it was very slow. Now we’re working with an our main supplier to use a very powerful SBC (ARM11 - 1,2 Ghz - 1 Ghz RAM).
In this way we can offer a stand-alone system that need only a power supplies line. We are looking for funds to optimize Eye+ with the best SBC available in market and start the first industrial production.
Eye+ (like any hardware project) has mechanical, electrical, software and firmware challenges. The batch-production optimized version of the device, as well as the self-assembled devices, have been successfully installed and are being used by many users and results are good. The first system was realized with a simple Window PC and a Microsoft Kinect sensor, but the best performance are with a single board computer (SBC) with a special version of BIOS. We worked with the famous Raspberry Pi (that is used for home automation systems) and PandaBord too.
These boards are a good choise (with a freedom Linux) but the face detection function in OpenCV library has a long execution time. Our goal is make a face detection function very fast so that the realism’s level will really surprising and exciting. In this moment Eye+ is an DIY product with a very expansive cost because we need many working hours to make all elements.
We can divide Eye+ system in three principal parts :
2) Electronic and software (microcontroller firmware, migration software to Linux embedded system, face detection function and others ).
The mechanical work will be manufactured by a model and prototype serving company with cnc machining (first production samples after four weeks after order). This work isn’t a problem in our production process but it is sensitive to other problem as delay in supply chain. To solve this problem we will commit this work to two companies so that any delay will not stops the production. This is an expansive cost but is the best choise to avoid delay.
The electronic and software job is the principal work and this is made in our company.
The electronic boards will be made with our machines (we have a capability of 200pcs/month) and software and firmware will be made by four of our engineers.
We will commit the same job (software and firmware) to an outsourcing engineering service to solve any delay problem too. We need 6 weeks to finish this work.
Packaging isn’t a problem because we have a good supplier in our city.
Also the shipment isn’t a problem; we can ship to all countries with FedEx and/or UPS.
So that we believe to solve supply chain problems .
