DeVito Art Skull Island Kongstarter (Canceled)
Joe DeVito's first Art Book and original King Kong novellas available in both Limited and Deluxe Editions.
Welcome to the Art of Joe DeVito KONGStarter project. This is for all those with an irrepressible love of Art, King Kong, dinosaurs, ancient civilizations, an assorted variety of monsters, rockets, flying saucers, aliens, classic pulps, cool collectibles, nostalgia, real and speculative science + fiction, action, adventure, and other assorted knick knacks of imagination. With your help, this Kickstarter will launch TWO new books showcasing the unique and captivating art of Joe DeVito and revealing for the first time the origins of King Kong and Skull Island. Hardcover editions, as well as Deluxe Editions exclusive to this Kickstarter, of the two books are being offered.
It begins with the large and beautifully designed art book God, Myths, and Monsters: The Art of Joe DeVito. This retrospective work covers Joe’s 35 years as a professional illustrator, sculptor, and author. During that time, he has worked with a huge cross-section of the greatest pop-culture icons in history. His oeuvre includes a Who’s Who of the modern day mythology: King Kong, Tarzan, Doc Savage, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, MAD Magazine, dinosaurs and other extinct, non-extinct, and not-yet-known-to-exist wildlife, aliens and many, many, many more. Joe's works will all be displayed in beautiful detail from original, personal scans, in a first-time-ever comprehensive collection.

The Skull Island book contains two long-awaited additions to Joe’s original creation, Skull Island - Skull Island: Exodus and Skull Island: The Wall, both co-written by Joe DeVito and Brad Strickland, with new covers and an extensive sketchbook section lavishly illustrated by Joe DeVito. Creating the original Skull Island and its ancillary work, The History of Skull Island brought into play a life-long fascination with everything King Kong. These were the first true expansions of the King Kong mythos since the creation of Kong himself. Conceived with the full support of Kong-creator Merian C. Cooper’s family, Skull Island and its derivative works are the only Cooper-authorized origin stories - not only of King Kong, but of all the Kongs and the human civilization that came to occupy Skull Island. The two novellas and the associated sketchbook drawings and details contained in this new Skull Island book reveals and explores the saurian evolution and adaptation that took place there over 65 million years, the origins of the enigmatic human civilization and the mighty Kongs, while digging deep into the very foundations of Skull Island itself as never before. This is done through the skillful use of ‘faction’, where woven throughout the entire tapestry of the stories are real facts and sciences that make Joe's creations plausible.

The high cost of shipping worldwide is beyond our control and we’re working hard to make sure the backer pledge rewards will be shipped as quickly and inexpensively as possible. We do not expect to make a profit from the shipping charges, but by the same token, we also cannot afford to lose money on it either.
After the Kickstarter campaign ends, we will send out a backer survey to collect your mailing addresses. Using this information, we will get the most accurate shipping pricing we can, based on our actual cost to ship your reward level to your home, and then charge you only that amount.
Once the books are done and the surveys received, we will let you know the actual cost. We will also group orders together at your request to save on shipping costs.
