Renown - The Game features four different races: the bloodthirsty Ogres, the forsaken Humfrogs, the greedy Goblins and the schnapps-loving Shiners. If we reach the stretch goals, we will add up to two whole new races. More information about these will be released when the stretch goals are reached.
Renown - The Game brings back a traditional Austrian card game. The original game is still played in Austria but it is getting more and more forgotten. Decades ago there were many tournaments and it was played in almost every tavern. It is called “Schnapsen”, probably because the winner was rewarded with a shot of schnapps. We have modernized it with a lot of modifications, action and player interactions. We have added a set of action cards which can alter the whole gameplay.
In your game box you find 20 character cards, five per each race and a printed version of the rules. In addition to that there are at least 18 action cards. Depending on how many stretch goals get finished, more action cards will be added to the game. Furthermore if you unlock the five and six player mode, there will be two more races with ten more characters in total.
1vs1 Single-Player Mode
1vs1vs1 Free for all Mode
2vs2 Coop Mode
However if we reach the stretch goals, we will addup to two new races which means that you can also unlock:
the extended Free for all Mode (five Players)
the extended Coop Mode (2vs2vs2)
Also you can unlock the Arcade Mode (Renown drinking game).
Be the first one to earn 48 points by beating your enemies in different round types to win the game. Send your characters into fights and gather 66 Renown which you need to get your beloved points.
To reward the best strategic player there are seven different round types, which give you more points, the more difficult your strategy is to follow. Some of the rounds require you to earn 66 Renown fast, others will challenge you to win all the fights. For the detailed rules in English or German click down below.
Each race has five different characters. As you can see in the example with the Shiners down below, each race is ranked like this:
You start each round by selecting a dominating race, which makes every member of this race stronger than any card of the other races. When a player plays a character, the other players usually have to follow with the same race, if they have one. The higher ranked characters beat the lower ranked ones. This means: The chief beats everyone from the warden to the dork, the warden beats everyone from the sorceress to the dork and so on. If a player does not have a card of the first played race, he has to play one of the dominating race. If the player does not have a card of the dominating race either, he needs to send another race into the fight. However, this one cannot beat the first played card.
There are seven different round types. At the beginning, each player can decide if he wants to play a special round. Out of the chosen rounds the one which is worth the most points is played. If no player wants to play a special round, you play a normal round.
The goal of a normal round is to earn 66 Renown. You earn Renown by winning fights. Each card is worth a different amount of Renown, which is indicated on it. If that is not possible, the player who wins the last fight wins.
If you have the right cards, you can play a special round. You can choose from six different types:
F**k the System (4 points)
Rum-Fiesta (6 points)
Domination (9 points)
Wardens Riot (10 points)
Pseudo-Rum-Fiesta (12 points)
Power Domination (12 points)
The special rounds will get you more points than a normal one. In order to win a game, it is very important that you win one or more special rounds, because otherwise it is nearly impossible to reach 48 points.
Two player mode (1vs1)
Three player mode (1vs1vs1)
Four player mode (2vs2)
We added nine different action cards. Each action card has two copies, so, in total there are 18 action cards, which totally impact the whole gameplay. Some are only playable in certain game modes. When you reach the stretch goals, we will add more action cards. So gather all your friends and support us - for an even more fun game in the end.
A game ends, if one of the players gets a total of 48 points. It is not important whether the player gets exactly 48. It can happen that somebody earns more than 48 points. This does not make any difference – a win is a win.
When a player wins, the other players get a Loser-Point. You can play as many games as you want. In the end, the player who got the least amount of Loser-Points is the ultimate winner.
The material of the flask will be inside as outside food safe stainless steel. Our Yodelgames logo is engraved on the right upper quarter. Here is a picture of the hand engraved flask - but keep in mind, that this is only a prototype. The flask, which we will send you is industrially manufactured and will look a little bit different but is much more detailed!

We are working together with the company Wingo Games, which has over 20 years of experience in manufacturing tabletop games and is capable of producing a high number of games in a rather short period of time. The quality of their products is very high. We have already got a prototype from them and we could not be happier with it.
Since our producer Wingo Games also offers a shipping option for Kickstarter projects, we also work with them regarding the shipping. They ship worldwide and the shipping cost for a package from them will not exceed 11 € for the most countries. By backing our project you accept that we forward your shipping data to our manufacturer Wingo Games.
We are three friends from Austria who are very into tabletop gaming. For a longer period of time we were thinking about creating our own game project. About a year ago we decided that it is time to get on it and thus started working on realizing it immediately. For our first game we chose to bring back an old Austrian game which our grandfathers taught us how to play. We did everything from modifying the game, to making a website, or finding the best producer to work with and much more by ourselves. Grande has spent many hours on drawing all these lovely creatures and the stylish layout. Over a long period of time he has been training his skills. Grande also publishes a gaming related weekly comic - check it out here. Whenever the three of us could not handle things alone, other friends of us jumped into the action and helped us out, which we appreciate very much. We put a lot of time and effort into this project to share it with you guys and we hope that we can succeed in creating a tabletop game with this Kickstarter campaign.
Risks and challenges
This is our first Kickstarter project. We put a lot of effort in this project. It is challenging but we also had fun working on it. Since we are working with an experienced company the risks for you backers are very low. Even if a high number of backers our manufacturer can handle the production in less than two months (if we are getting a crazy number of backers the production time may increase). Plenty of ideas for new games are already in our heads if we can realize this project with your support, you can expect to see more games from us.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
