First, thank you for taking an interest in what we are creating!
We want to create an online space where we sell ethical products made by businesses fighting human trafficking, exploitation, and marginalization. We want to share their stories and give conscience shoppers a place to shop. Our purchases say something about us. They say something about our style, but they also say something about our values. If you're like us, you care about how workers are treated in the process of making the products we use. We want Kairos Traders to be somewhere you can land and feel comfortable with the products you are buying. We would love to invite you to be part of this project launching!
TELL ME ABOUT THE BUSINESSES YOU PARTNER WITH
Each of the businesses we partner with is committed to engaging the issues of human trafficking and exploitation. One way these businesses engage these issues is by bringing employment to communities that are impoverished and vulnerable to human trafficking and exploitation. Poverty is, unfortunately, a huge contributor to exploitation and we want to bring employment to help solve this issue. Another way businesses are addressing this issue is by hiring survivors of exploitation with the desire to see them empowered through their employment. We have had the privilege of getting to know these businesses and their work is what inspires us!
BUT WHAT ABOUT THE PRODUCTS?
What we don't want is to be a pity purchase; something you buy because of the story and then stick in a drawer and forget about. That's why the products we carry are high-quality, beautiful, and something you will enjoy using! Many of the products are made with sustainable or reclaimed materials. Our purchases have power and we want to encourage people to join us in our story and be part of something bigger than ourselves.
WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH THE MONEY?
As a non-profit social enterprise staffed by volunteers, we have a unique opportunity to really use these funds to further our work. Of course, a portion of the money we raise will go towards processing fees, shipping and fulfilling the pledges. With the remaining funds, we will be able to buy inventory to launch our online store well and grow it to serve the community of conscientious shoppers that we want to partner with!
Risks and challenges
Ultimately, we want you to enjoy the reward you receive from us.
We work with a lot of unique products and upcycled materials, so we can't always guarantee what colors/patterns are available. When that applies to a particular reward we have stated that in the reward details.
We realize that this isn't always convenient and that may mean we aren't the best fit for you. We do hope you enjoy these products as much as we do!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
