The story goes something like this: Kale has a good thick coat of fur, but Maddy does not and so she is more affected by the cold. Maddy’s mom buys her a very nice warm coat, hat, and booties so that she can play outside with Kale without getting cold. Kale laughs when he first sees Maddy trying to walk in her booties and it makes Maddy insecure wearing the outfit. One cold evening, Maddy runs outside without putting her warm outfit on. Her mom and Kale both try to get her to come inside, but she continues to run away. Finally she gets so cold she can’t move any more. Kale finds her and carries her home. As they warm up by the fireplace Kale apologizes for laughing and Maddy promises to wear her warm clothes from now on, seeing how important they are for her health.
I need help to pay the illustrator and for publishing costs. Apart from someone else bringing my images to life, I am doing this completely on my own. I believe it will be great and enjoyed by all ages with its delightful illustrations and its fun story!
This book will be for early readers but enjoyable to read to younger children too. This first book will show the moral of how easy our actions can hurt and the importance of using our words. As well the northern geared issue of the importance of wearing proper winter clothing.
I have lived in the north my entire life and believe this would be a great way to showcase the beauty of being North of 60.
Risks and challenges
The risks for this project are very small: I am 100% committed to make this book. I have interviewed numerous illustrators and selected one. I have done a lot of research on self-publishing through Amazon and will make the book available in both e-book and print format.
While this is my first time publishing a book, it is a passion project for me! I am in love with the characters as they are my own pets, and I will be completing this first book followed by many more! Once it is done and in your hands it will be spectacular!
