Thanks to you all we have reached our 15K base goal. We now have the factory floor and all the minimum requirements to get production underway. With a growing budget, there's a few other things we can shoot for. Keep any eye out and help us reach these goals!
We have had a few requests about how to attach and remove your Connector Wallet. So we have gone away and made a short video to show you all how easy it really is!
THE PATRONA CONNECTOR STORY
Our project started with the search for the perfect phone wallet. We wanted something that was elegant, slim and that didn’t compromise the functionality of our devices. The products we found just did not measure up, being either too bulky, feeling cheap or, in the case of the premium leather products we tested, compromising the phones function altogether. Following our frustrating and unsuccessful search we set about finding the solution.
The product is made from the finest Italian leather, British steel and 3M adhesives. The product is made using pioneering leather working techniques that we invented. It will be made 100% in the UK in the factories shown below:
WE DIDN'T STOP THERE!
We realised our magnetic system had a lot of other uses. When the new iOS6 technology arrived, with it's integrated sat nav system, we spotted the need for a well engineered and subtle in car mount system.
Existing suction mount systems were unsafe and unsightly, often falling off in transit, leaving a nasty saliva mark behind.
So we created the Connector Face and Connector Dash.
The Connector Face fits to any vertical face in the car or around the home. The Connector Dash is a stand that goes anywhere. From the car dash board to the office desk.
HOW DID WE GET THERE?
Over the past 6 months we have gone through a number of iterations of prototypes, from mechanical to magnetic joining systems, every prototype having its own incremental design change. The below video shows the products, many prototypes and evolution to our final design.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The patent pending design uses a circular magnetic and mechanical socket to secure the phone in place. The magnets provide the pull force, whilst the mechanical socket stops the case slipping in your pocket, or falling off if you go over a bump. The Swivel System socket provides for 360 degree rotation.
The steel parts are made using Acid Etching, a clever automated process normally used to make mechanical components. We are the first to use this technique to create a male and female socket, and also to create a circular socket, for the purposes of rotation.
All parts have peel tabs designed into them, which can be peeled and pulled to facilitate removal of the products. Combined with the peel tabs, the products utilise 3M adhesives to ensure the products do not mark or damage your phone or surfaces.

Patrona is a travel accessories brand based in London, UK. The company is headed by Andrew Brundan, entrepreneur and inventor of the award winning Shirt Shuttle, a commuting case that transports a shirt without creasing. The Shirt Shuttle sold over 28,000 units in the first 8 months of launching in 2011 and was the best selling product in The Conran Shop and Firebox.com.
Along side Andrew is designer Harry de Stacpoole, a design graduate of Limerick University and a James Dyson Engineering Award Winner, for a wheel chair application to allow disabled sailers to enter and exit dhingies independently. Our design team is further bolstered by Matthew White, a fellow of the Royal College of Art and creator of many highly technical products such as the Bladefish.
In 2012 the Patrona team were honoured by winning investment from the design icon Sir Terence Conran and a syndicate of investors who own stakes in brands such as Cath Kidson, Brompton Bikes and LuLu Guinness.
Following a difficult production phase in the Far East, where the company was hit by quality and communication challenges, Patrona now seeks the help of Kickstarter to aid the launch of its new collection of products, which are all to be made in the UK.

We still need to raise the remaining funds to pay for the tooling and factory time required to make this dream a reality. We really can't do it with out you!
Risks and challenges
Our factory partners have been hand picked for their attention to detail and manufacturing expertise. All products have been extensively prototyped and tested. All factories manufacture to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 quality and environmental protocols.
We have worked closely with our factories to develop a tight program of works so that, in the event we hit our Kickstarter goal, we can deliver product to you within 45 days.
All our product use adhesives, either bonding something to your phone or phone case, or the Dash or Face inside your car, home or office. We have worked closely with 3M, the worlds largest and most innovative adhesive provider, to select the most suitable adhesive for the job. We have also done extensive product testing to ensure the products a) stick and are b) fully removable and non marking at the same time.
Our products use magnets. Whilst Our Magnetic Inhibitor ensures zero magnetic force goes through to your precious cards, there is a small risk that, if the wallet is dislodged in the pocket it could come in contact with a card for a long duration (hours) it could wipe a magnetic strip. We have extensively tested the product and experienced NO issues: Debit/credit cards, access cards, oyster travel cards, hotel swipe cards and season rail tickets have been unaffected. Furthermore the chip within the card is totally unaffected by magnets.
It is also advised that magnets should not be placed near pacemakers dated computer hard drives or other items that are extremely sensitive to magnets.
