Stretch Goal #2 Almost Here!
Over the past 5 days we have added 125 new backers and pledged an additional $3,223! This is fantastic news, and we are now approaching Stretch Goal #2, a vastly improved cropping interface.
Improved Cropping Tool (Stretch Goal #2)
Most users are familiar with cropping photos, as it is one of the most useful and basic image editing functions, but many do not realize that videos can also be cropped. My goal is to make this interface super easy-to-use, with familiar interface controls, such as drawing a rectangle around the part of the video you want... and an easy way to adjust the position of the rectangle while your video plays (as is sometimes required during a video).
But we are still $1,418 away with only 6 days to go. Our progress is slowing down each day, and I'm not sure how to reverse that trend. But I do have a simple plan to reach this stretch goal, and probably even stretch goal #3 (animation presets that can be quickly applied to any setting, such as zoom, shake, ease-in, ease-out, etc...) ... with your help.
The Plan (6 Days to Go)
We now have over 1000 backers, which is incredible and awesome! With great numbers comes great power. If each of us does the following 2 things, I think we could make a huge jump over the next 48 hours.
- Step 1: Add $5 to your current reward level. If you name is in the credits, I will somehow indicate you are a little more awesome for donating more than you had to. I have not figured out exactly how I will do this, but your name will stand out.
- Step 2: Post this update on your Facebook wall, tweet it, post it on Google+, share it on reddit, and any other social network you use. If only a few of us do this it is not very effective, but if hundreds of us post this with some personal thoughts about the project and why people should support us, it will make a HUGE impact over the next few days.
While I am thrilled we have blown away our original goal of $20,000, I want to maximize this opportunity for OpenShot, and add as many stretch goals as possible. This will benefit people all over the world long after the Kickstarter project is over. It will help schools, public TV and Radio stations, libraries, and anyone who wants to tell their story through video. Thank you for your support and let's see how loud our voices can get.
