65% of Goal!

Posted by Jonathan Thomas (Creator)

There are still 21 days left in the OpenShot Kickstarter campaign, and we have already climbed to 448 backers, with pledges reaching 65% of our $20,000 goal. While we have had an amazing start to our campaign, there are still challenges ahead. We still need to raise $7,000 to reach our goal, and we need to find more media coverage, to help spread the word and continue to bring in new backers.

Reddit

Tonight, I posted a link on Reddit.com (in the kickstarter subreddit), which links to my newest blog post on www.openshotvideo.com. If you have an account on Reddit, please help me out and upvote this link: http://www.reddit.com/tb/1b3gxb. I have not tried this strategy before on Reddit, so I'm not sure how successful it will be... but I figured it was worth a try. In theory, the higher the votes, the higher the link is posted, and the more people learn about our Kickstarter.

Blogs (New Strategy)

For the most part, I have been unsuccessful in reaching large tech news sites. So, I am starting to focus on smaller blogs, that are more approachable... and more likely to return my emails. =) Perhaps, if a few smaller blogs pick-up our story, the larger news sites will follow. If you have any suggestions, especially Windows and Mac blogs, please let me know in the comments.

Power in Numbers

We are now 448 people strong. The larger our numbers grow, the louder our voice will be.  If we are organized well, and stay focused, we can all help get this project funded and make some amazing improvements to OpenShot. Thanks to each of you for putting your support behind OpenShot!

I tipped off Heise Online's open source site (The H), so hopefully they'll contact you for an interview. That would be really cool :-)
