On a flight across the Pacific, Taka Knight finds himself in the company of a mysterious stranger. After drinking a bottle of cold brew coffee from said stranger, Taka soon finds himself in the city of Victoria, staring at a coffee house bearing his name with a nagging sense of familiarity.
He soon finds that Victoria is in a seemingly alternate steampunk reality in which modern technology does not exist. Taka's journey thus begins on finding the truth behind his parents’ disappearance. But before doing so, he must learn to perform caffeine, the magical power that every barista and cupper in Victoria possesses.
Firstly, he must learn how to ...... brew coffee. Join Taka in rediscovering his roots and his quest for his family's secrets, in a city where baristas are knights and coffee is king.
"Welcome to Victoria, taste the finest beans we have in store!" - Eliza
"Your coffee tastes just like your personality, BLAND!" - Oceane
"Let's finish the pastries ourselves so we can all go home early." - Alice
"Sell them an espresso, upsell them a latte art book." - Mel
But not all coffees are sweet. There's also a cast of supporting characters. Who can you trust? Who is the true villain? Be careful with who you deal with, don't spill your beans too easily!
The use of a 3D Camera in building our visual novel gives us many opportunities to experiment with different camera techniques, such as close-ups, panning and angled shots.
All backgrounds are meticulously drawn by our BG artist Exitmothership. We have spent many hours researching on minor details of cafes, re-imagining what the interiors will look like in a Victorian / Steampunk setting.
The background scenery of Victoria also takes reference from a famous city.
To create an engaging experience, all our character sprites are animated with Live2D. Here is a sample video to show how Eliza's gestures and expressions change:
It's All About Coffee
Great Music Experience
The demo itself features eight custom soundtracks and one theme song. Another eight soundtracks are planned. Hitting the milestone will enable us to create a total of 22 tracks with 90 minutes of music.

The Main Team
This project has so far been self-funded, and we have budget allocated to see this project to the end.
However, we have decided to go on Kickstarter because creating high quality artwork is hard, time-consuming and costly. There are also certain scenes we want to work into the game, but may prove too expensive to do so given we are working on a fixed budget.
Getting our Kickstarter funded, or better, hitting our milestones will allow the team to bring our visual novel to the quality standards we envision. Every single cent (minus Kickstarter fees and the costs of reward fulfillment) will be spent on artwork, music and visual effects as well as editing.
Plus, this is the only time where you can receive our exclusive Kickstarter-only merchandises, which won't be available in the future.
The breakdown on how we intend to spend our Kickstarter funds is as follows:
Artwork - This is artwork in addition to what has already been planned.
Editing - We will hire a professional editor to ensure the top-notch writing quality.
SX & Music - We will create music and ambience to suit each scene, ensuring a cinematic experience.
Visual Effects - Create a more engaging experience by adding a touch of visual effects.
Kickstarter Fees & Rewards Fulfillment - Of course, we need to take into account the cost of fulfilling our digital and physical rewards.
Risks and challenges
We're confident we can deliver the final product at the expected quality levels. We have a team of talented and experienced artists working on this project who are committed to seeing the visual novel completed.
By far the biggest risk for us is the departure of any current team members. If this happens there will be a certain period of time where we will need to search for a replacement without sacrificing consistency and quality.
But with over 60% of the artwork and music already completed, this would only cause delay rather than termination of the project itself.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
