Frequently Asked Questions
Currently, Slide needs to be connect to an electricity outlet. When you receive Slide, we'll make sure that the package contains everything you need, including a AC adapter with a plug for your region. The cord of the adapter will be 2.5m long but we will add an extra extension cord of 3m if your socket is further away. At the moment, we are examining possibilities for battery placement and solar power. We will keep you posted!Last updated:
We are using a polyethylene wire that is also used in the fishing industry. The wire has a straight lifting capacity of 22KG.Last updated:
The polyethylene wire is unlikely to break because it has a lifting capacity of 22KG. However, in the very unlikely case it does break, the thread is changeable.Last updated:
As for now, we have chosen WiFi as our wireless protocol because it allows users to connect Slide to the internet, e.g. to use cloud services such as IFTTT, without the need for an external hub. However, we are looking into adding Z-Wave/Zigbee as an optional upgrade to Slide in the coming weeks.Last updated:
In addition to the Slide App for iOS and Android you will be able to use Slide through IFTTT (If This Than That). If we reach our Stretch goal of €100.000 we will provide early access to Slide’s documented open API. We’re excited to see the integrations with different types of home automation systems that our community will build. And as we speak, we are scrutinising options for an integration with Apple HomeKit.
So Slide is compatible with:
- IFTTT, which will allow for (voice) control through Amazon Alexa/Echo and Google Assistant/Home.
We are examing the following integration:
- Apple HomeKit
The community is able to build integrations with (but not limited to) the following platforms using our documented open API:
- Home wizard
- Loxone Smart Home
- Windows phoneLast updated:
One Slide supports two horizontal curtains, but if the curtains are uneven in length or not symmetrical (not closing in the middle) you need a separate Slide for each curtain.Last updated:
One Slide is equipped to pull up a weight of 22 KG, which means that horizontal moving curtains can be even heavier. The curtains can be of every height, but the maximal tested width of the curtains is 6 meters. However, if there is much demand for a broader width, we are more than willing to examine the possibilities.Last updated:
Generally, Slide does not work on curved curtain tracks. However, if it's an easy curve we recommend you to send us a picture so that we can determine if Slide will work on your specific curtains rail. You can always set up Slide for the straight part of your rails, excluding the curved part at the end. Do note that in this case your curtains will not be able to still reach the curved/cornered part of your curtains.Last updated:
Yes, Slide also works with a rod-ring system.Last updated:
Yes, Slide also works on a telescopic curtain rails.Last updated:
Slide has an automatic roll-in-roll-out mechanism for the wire. The spools run freely and they are automatically tensioned by a constant-torque spring. The polyethylene cable will retract when the curtains are opened and closed.
Maybe it is also good to know that Slide works on rotations rather than with a pre-set duration. Hence, Slide is able to determine the exact location of the curtain, even if it's operated manually.Last updated:
