If you search YouTube for the word murmuration, you'll see videos of Starling flocks creating flight patterns in unison. Starlings may simply be the most visible and beautiful example of a biological criticality that also seems to operate in proteins and neurons, hinting at universal principles yet to be understood.
Music is mysterious in a similar way. Why does it move us so? Why do I need to create music to exist? These questions inspired the titled of my (hopefully) soon to be released cd, "Murmuration."
I have been writing this new batch of 14 songs for the last three years. In my song "Butterfly," I describe the songwriting process as "part butterfly, part bee" -- meaning, effortless expression of your soul is channeled through your imagination (butterfly), but only through hard work (bee) is one able to share that with others.
I have traditionally recorded my cds in home studios and relied upon the good graces of friends to produce, record, mix and master the projects. My goal now is to record "Murmuration" at Mighty Fine Productions recording studio in Denver, Colorado. In letting go of control and hiring Colin Bricker as producer, I open up to a new and different sound. The songs will be created, unrehearsed, by the "Murmuration" band, which includes: Eric Moon (keys), David Farrell (bass), Greg Schochet (acoustic and electric guitar, mandolin), Glenn Taylor (pedal steel), Mark Raynes (drums), and Shawn Waggoner (vocals, songwriting, acoustic rhythm guitar).
All funding will go towards recording, mixing, mastering and promoting "Murmuration."

In a separate crafts business I make dioramas out of Altoid tins and sock dolls and felted creatures out of recycled materials for my company, Renewable Ragamuffins (www.myspace.com/renewableragamuffins). I am offering some of these handmade items in conjunction with my music for some unique and fun rewards.
Thank you sincerely for your time, and for considering kickstarting my project. Love,
