About this project
MOBILE BALKAN PROJECT- MOBA Project
What is MOBA?
MOBA is an installation-performance, music and visual, which creates an exceptional insight on Serbia and the Balkan region countries. We are hosting this installation- recital and contribute to the wider recognition of the Balkan’s art heritage with an unusual and highly enjoyable programme.
When is the beginning and when is the end of MOBA?
MOBA will start on the 25th October and the exhibition will end on the 3rd November but musical programme will continue until 6th December 2013, including a short presentation in this year’s British Parliament Week (15-21 November). This will be just the first leg of the ongoing venture aiming to tour Europe, America and other countries and to promote artists from Serbia and the Balkans. The performers are professional musicians and artist whose reputation is already well established and whose creativity is enhanced through this project. Artists are Sanja Stefanovic, piano, Darko Djordjevic, tenor, Orpheus Papafilipou, violin and Rimantas Vingras, piano. Artist-photographer is Dragoljub Zamurovic.
MOBA project is an imaginative recital of Serbian classical music with strong ethnic elements -BISER- from the Romantic period (19th -20th centuries), accompanied by the exhibition of innovative art photographs of Serbia and the Balkan’s taken from the air - bAIseR- A Kiss from the Air. The concert is created by two Serbian musicians and supported by their colleagues from the Balkan, celebrating musical heritage from the region. These rarely performed songs are based on poetry of the Serbian and French Romantic poets. Dragoljub Zamurovic is a photographer from Serbia who devised a special flying chair-hot air-balloon from which he takes his exotic photos of the landscape and people in their daily activities.
What is the main objective of MOBA?
The main objective of this performance is to introduce artists who in an innovative way present less known art and culture of Serbia and the Balkan region. We wish to make more people interested in our heritage and MOBA – means Mobile Balkan, which we intend to move around the world. This project will also promote the region’s natural resources and human settlements and their daily activities, through this universal language of music and art. We need funds to organise to perform this programme and we hope it will help us to develop it further and to include new musicians and artists from the region in the future presentations.
What are creative endeavours of MOBA?
The final product is this installation-performance, also a brochure and video on YouTube. If we manage to get enough funding we shall make DVD/CD of the project and distribute it wider, which may also create some income for our future endeavours.
Who is behind MOBA?
Pro Art exists for 20 years and organised many concerts and exhibitions, cultural and educational programmes and our experience and knowledge is recognised through the presentation of high quality art at prominent places around Britain and Europe. This will give us credibility to take up this project and plan its wide spreading and influence on different audiences. This is why we need you to set up BISER and bAIseR - A Kiss from the Air installation-performance which will generate more interest among different people once presented publicly.
"Cilim" - a kilim, original from Crna Trava, South Serbia, in 1950.
MOBA is dedicated to the presentation and preservation of Balkan´s cultural identity and tradition, including music, arts, dance, literature, and other forms that may develop in the future.
MOBA will foster collaborations between music, art, dance and literature of the Balkan nations and countries, bringing these fields, these nations and these countries into long living conversation and partnership.
MOBA will provide the concerts and venues all over the world, with the best Balkan musicians, artists, dancers and novelists.

What do we do together?
- We HEAR the Serbian arias, composed by Serbian Romantic composers
- We SEE the beautiful Serbia photographs from the air by Dragoljub Zamurovic
- We FEEL global, the differences bringing us together, not dividing us from each other
- We SHARE the universal language of MUSIC, the MOTHER of permanent connection
- We ARE Mobile Balkan
Let us keep the enormous heritage of the beautiful Balkan countries together! Let us open the stage first with these events for the new cultural context by sharing experiences through MUSIC, ART, DANCE and LITERATURE!

Risks and challenges
MOBA is a complex project. Balkan is probably not the biggest region in Europe, but the cultural varieties are, which makes Balkan people very temperament, passionate, warm hearted and strong minded. But these facts made it possible to have such a cultural variety! People of Balkan are expressing themselves through the music, arts, dance and literature perhaps more then any other national groups in Europe. Unfortunately, not many of these wonderful music works, art works, dances and books are know for the large audience. The funds we are attempting to raise on kickstarter will help us to distribute music works, art works, dances and books. Firstly we will get the MOBA books, catalogues and music CDs as rewards for our backers, so they might enjoy directly our MOBA Project and spread to the rest of the world. But we might have problems in delivering the rewards up to date. We still don´t have a team who will work on this, this part of project is enthusiastically taken by musicians, writers and photographer who are performing in the project. It could come to delays because of other commitments of the musicians, writers and photographer have, after the MOBA is launched. We will do our best to be ON TIME! We will try to arrange all rewards while the MOBA is launching so our backers will not wait longer as we planed. If we have a delay, we will talk to our backers personally via video-message or a skype call! We promise to be connected all the way the MOBA has started till the delivery of rewards ends.
Our MOBA Project starts in London, UK. We might have some problems with weather as we start on October 25th. Our musicians, writers and photographer might have problems to reach London on time for the preparation, because of possible flight delays or train delays. We will organize our friends on the spot to solve the problems, by taking the musicians, writers and photographer in the car, or to work out other flight possibilities or train connections.
As we are starting with the music, we might have problems of just human nature: our operatic singer might have some impact on the vocal cords because of the Londoner October weather. The same with our violinist, his violin might have some impacts from the humidity, as violinist has to reach London from the other town in UK on the concert day. The violin is made of wood and reacts on the weather as a human being. What we can do? Operatic singer will take care of his voice by staying indoors as much as possible. The violinist will try to pack his violin to protect the instrument from the bad weather influence. If this is not to work, we might just play the piano. BUT: let us hope to get surprised by Londoner weather! What if it is going to be a wonderful sunny and dry day? This kind of weather is possible in London. We just need to be lucky! Our backers will transfer their positive energy and luck to all of us!
We are armed with good spirit, good will, lots of love for the MOBA Project realisation. We put not only our work and knowledge in it, we put our hearts and our souls in it. We want to share the beauty of not enough explored parts of Europe with the other part of the World. We will do more then our best!
