Music and love go hand in hand. Both are universal languages; everyone can enjoy them. They both break down barriers, unify, and don’t care about race, class, sex, time, or geography. On their own, music and love are amazing in their own right. But how much more wonderful is it when they blossom together, each fueling and igniting mutual passion! And who would argue that some of the best music is created with those close and dear to you who share the same love and passion?
Taken 4 Granite is an a cappella quartet of four ladies who love each other and who love to make music together. Our music is rooted in that love and the desire to share that love with the world around us. It just so happens that Renee, Christina, and Sam share a mother-daughter-sister kind of love and are pretty darn good at sharing and enveloping others into their family as evidenced by the kind of sisterhood that has been created with their good friend Katrine.
Now we want you. Because love and music know no boundaries and set no limits, we set our sights high and broad. We want to share our music because we want YOU to be a part of it. As much fun as it is to sit around the living room and laugh and sing and be together, we KNOW that it is not about us. It is about all of us… the music shared among family, friends, the barbershop world, the a cappella world, the music community, and beyond. When God gives you a gift, you don’t sit on it. You share it. That’s where the love is. Share the music… share the love. We welcome you to be a part of our musical extended family.
Taken 4 Granite formed in November of 2013 and started competing at Harmony, Incorporated contests in April, 2014. We are Renee, Christina, and Samantha Tramack (mother and daughters, respectively), and Katrine Dickau. We live in southern New Hampshire in the towns of Nashua and Hollis. Our quartet name comes from NH being the Granite State and the fact that we don’t ever want to take our friends, family, love, or talents for granted.
In November of 2016 we won the Harmony, Inc. International Quartet Contest, thus becoming the current reigning Harmony Queens. We are known for our original arrangements, creative, and fun material stretching across decades and genres. We wear our hearts on our sleeves and what you see is what you get… authentically us.
After many requests and expressed hopes, we decided to record an album this year to have it ready for the International Contest in November. We have been in the recording studio since June, and songs are currently being mixed and mastered. The album design is underway and licensing and production is on the near horizon. As you know, all of these pieces are important and painstaking… and expensive.
We are so fortunate to be surrounded by such an amazingly supportive network of friends and family both near and far. Thank you for being that part of our dependable extended family. With this Kickstarter project we are hoping that you will help us to raise $6,000 to cover the costs of this CD. These include the costs of professionally recording, mixing, editing and mastering the CD, licensing and producing the CDs. Our Kickstarter project will be live for only a few weeks, so if you feel like you would like to support us, please do so without delay! The more early support we have, the better the chances of our project’s success. If we don’t reach our goal it is Kickstarter policy to not get anything… nothing for us… nothing for you ☹.
The cool thing about Kickstarter is that when you do back our project, we have some really great rewards for you. These range from essentially pre-ordering a signed CD or (unsigned… ha ha!) digital download, to awesome t-shirts, learning tracks, coaching sessions, custom arrangements, powered parachute rides, entertainment for an event of your choice, or even a Caribbean cruise… with us! Any amount is greatly appreciated and will help us reach our goal.
We look forward to seeing this project through to completion with your help. Together let’s rock this world with the love of music! Welcome to the family!
Risks and challenges
There are some risks and challenges associated with any big project. There are just so many parts to fit together, and finding the resources to make the dream a reality can be daunting. The resources are out there, it just takes lots of research and networking. But the costs for the different parts of the project (recording studio fees, mixing, mastering, licensing, design, and replication) can really start to pile up. So our biggest challenge is raising enough money to cover it all. Sam is in college, Christina works multiple part-time jobs, and Katrine and Renee also work somewhat freelance during the moments between caring for our families. Every single dollar of support is appreciated so that this album can be a reality.
At this point, we are on target to have the project completed by November in time for the Harmony Inc. International Contest. We have finished our recording studio time, and the files are being mixed and soon mastered.
I guess one of the biggest risks we are taking is that if we don't reach our Kickstarter goal, we get nothing. We could end up being up the creek without a paddle! We are confident, however that this fundraising goal is appropriate and attainable with the help of supporters like you! Thanks again for thoughtfully considering backing our project! We can't wait to share our fun and unique blend of music with the world!
