STRETCH GOAL: Many thanks to everyone who has pledged so far. We have achieved our initial goal which means that the Victorian Academy of Magick book will happen. Because of this we are now in a position to introduce a Stretch Goal! If we can achieve funding of £5000 we will be able to produce a second book, a collection of short stories based around the alternative reality London of the Victorian Academy of Magick. This paperback book will be called 'Vampires, Broomsticks & Treacle Tarts', and will be sent as a gift to everyone who has pledged £15 or more. But ONLY if we can achieve £5000 worth of funding. So please let your friends know about this project and let's see if we can add even more value to your gifts as a way of thanking you for your amazing generosity!
The Victorian era was a time when real magic bristled in the air. Magicians, wizards, and witches harnessed the power of magic and utilised it to power huge advances in technology and industry. But then something terrible happened: The Great War. An awful weapon was unleashed that altered our timeline; the magic died and our memories of the days before the war became muddied and dulled. We forgot about the magic. But now the mist has started to fade. Close your eyes and imagine yourself back in Victorian London or New York. A time when magic was real, when the scent of bonfires was forever on the air, and when the Royal Academy of Magick welcomed students to study the Ancient Arts.
Really? Well, no, not really. This is steampunk and alternative history inspired fun and not to be taken too seriously! But if the thought of Victorian vampires, witches, zombies, superheroes and high adventure whets your appetite, then the Victorian Academy of Magick is for you!
By combining authentic Victorian photographs with creative and fantastical stories, the Victorian Academy of Magick creates a new kind of fantasy fiction. The Victorian Academy of Magick was the brainchild of magician and mind-reader Paul Voodini. It started life as a Facebook page where the unique combination of vintage photographs and magical stories soon caught the imagination of thousands. Now the book will combine the very best and most popular photographs with the original texts plus expanded storylines on many of the entries and a collection of short stories from the alternative universe of the Victorian Academy of Magick!
By supporting this Kickstarter project you are helping to turn the dream of the Victorian Academy of Magick into a reality. And by doing so you'll be rewarded with some pretty cool stuff! This is an opportunity to create something wonderful and to be involved with a project that seeks to bring a touch of magic into the world.

Risks and challenges
Most of the photographs and stories are already in place. By running the Facebook page and updating it three or four times a day (every day!) we've developed a very close relationship with the photographs, the stories, the characters, and the world inhabited by the Victorian Academy of Magick. So essentially the book is in the bag (or rather, the hard drive). But now we need your help to turn these ideas into reality. We need support to get the photographs and stories properly typeset and printed. Printing costs for a project like this are quite high, and we can't meet these costs without your help.
Once we have received the funding, it should only be a matter of weeks to get the photographs and stories sent to the printers and the books published. There should not be any hold-ups. However in the event that there is a delay, you will of course be kept fully informed. We see you as a true partner in this project and you will be kept fully in the loop.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
