**As you may or may not know, while on tour in California last week, we suffered a massive, nearly tragic car accident. We thank God that we are still alive and walking. After much deliberation, and as difficult as it is to ask, we have encountered substantial new financial challenges, both personally and as a band, we must ask for your help to see this project through. We have not wavered in our desire to obtain funding for the completion of this record as we try to move along with this album. If you have donated already, we cannot thank you enough. If you have not, we would so deeply appreciate your help, be it by pledging or simply sharing this link with others. We look forward to giving you good news soon! Sincere thanks and gratitude for all the support!!!** -decker.
This is it!
Please take just five minutes to watch our video and see our story...
We are decker. We have spent the last 4 years starving for our art (often times quite literally).
If you know us, then you know how true this is. We've traveled thousands upon thousands of miles and played a ton of shows in a ton of cities. We've put out some records too (3 to be exact, and they have cost alot of money).
Since our return from Austin, TX for SXSW in March we began writing and recording this album which we are so close to finishing right now; the fourth decker. album.
I can honestly say, I've never been more proud of any creation, short of my son.
I, Daddy Decker, dumped every last cent I had on recording gear (to the tune of about $4000) in order to save money on studio time and insure that we had plenty of time to put the love into the album that it warrants and we got back to the roots of the first decker. album. We recorded what we could at home and then took the rest to track at a local studio in Sedona. During this time we have not stopped touring, or putting on shows. Quite the contrary, we live for our art. It is my obsession and my passion.
This week we will lay down the last few tracks and then embark on this Kickstarter project.
It is here that we will ask, in the same manner we've asked so many times for a floor to sleep on, for your grace and generosity.
In order to finish the album, we need, as far as I can tell, at least $3800, which breaks down as such:
$1150 for final mixing (mixing runs, at minimum, about $40/hr and upwards of hundreds. The studio we are focused on is right in that range and we look forwad to sharing more about them soon! Truth be told, mixing is arguably more important than the tracking/recording itself).
$1000 for mastering (mastering is the final step in recording process, pre-manufacturing, and this is a pretty good rate for mastering. Our CD will be mastered by RFI Mastering in Seattle, who has mastered Cat Power, The Shins, Pearl Jam and many others).
$1600 for manufacturing (We are printing up 1500 eco wallets CDs, not CDRs. These are high-quality, professional CDs. This will allow us to send out 300 copies to labels, magazines, blogs, booking agents, etc in our promo campaign for the album come November).
(+ $50 to help offset fees for this here venture)
It is important to note: If we do not hit the goal, we do not get any of the money. It is also worth noting that if we are fortunate enough to make and exceed the goal, we can use any additional money to further fund our operation for van repairs, gear upgrades and emergency funds for the unexpected.
It is vastly more worth noting: This album is the cornerstone of a much larger push we are embarking on. Such as to say, this is merely the beginning. This album will serve as the backbone of our push toward a larger artistic future and freedom.
I've gone on too long. Got a question? Drop a line at email@example.com and make sure to check out the website at www.deckermusic.org
Thank you for your time and love! See you soon,
