About
Help Us Reach Our Stretch Goal.
There are 5 glorious days left in our Kickstarter Campaign and we have the chance to set a stretch goal. We are trying to raise an additional $5,000 for equipment to livestream our in-person workshops. This will, similarly to our original goal, help us increase the reach of our project while also accommodating different kinds of learning styles. Think of it as a 16% tip on your delicious Kickstarter meal :)
All new or increased existing pledges toward our stretch goal will have access to our beta testing of the livestream for any of our workshops scheduled in March!
HUGE UPDATE(1/9/19): All pledges made in January will be matched by a donor dollar-for-dollar!
It all started when…we set a huge goal: to flip the 55%/45% split of white people think that racism against white people is as big of a societal problem as racism against people of color to a 45/55 by 2025.
We have travelled the country giving workshops to thousands, produced books and webinars and subscriptions to help move the needle on racism and create a more beloved community.
This Kickstarter project will create a video course that replicates the half-day workshops we have delivered so that anyone with an internet connection can have access to the practical in-depth instruction.
Using the same video company that produced the Toolkit Introductory Video and has already shot days of footage of our workshops, and securing an appropriate delivery platform, we will create a dynamic and interactive video course for sale to individuals, groups, and institutions to help anti-racism allies understand themselves better in order to become more effective advocates in influencing people who do not think that racism is a serious problem. They will learn practical insights about persuasion science and non-violent communication to improve day-to-day communication about racial issues.
Together we can #MOVETHENEEDLE and #engagerace effectively!
What your pledge can do
- $1-99 goes toward recording and streaming equipment we can use to enhance our capacity to record and livestream events going forward.
- $100 goes towards an hour of professional recording time per camera person
- $250 goes towards travel days to recording sites and the online delivery platform
- $1000 pays for a day of editing the workshop videography or a day of designing the online interactivity of the course
- $5000 pays for green screen shooting, scripting, project management and product marketing
Risks and challenges
The most difficult challenges will be to find and adapt a platform to deliver the immersive course in the most dynamic and useful way. We are currently evaluating numerous options and leaning heavily towards the teachable.com platform. Getting the video course released on schedule by April, 2019 will be a challenge as well. The volunteer COO will serve as project manager to keep this project on track,
