My name is Dan Kassel, and I am a professional cellist who uses live looping and layering technology to build powerful and emotionally provocative music. I've played the cello in orchestras and chamber ensembles since 1997, and have been on the experimental path for the past 5 years, using my classically trained skill set to take the cello into more unorthodox realms that speak to people on deep, personal levels.
My solo performance has always been a labor of love, and finding a way to utilize my skills as a drummer, bassist and cellist into one vehicle has been a blessing, as has my ability to earn a humble and honest income from my own music. Through hard work and dedication, my live performance and recorded work has earned press attention and awards from major publications such as WXPN's "The Key," NJ.com, and the International Songwriting Competition. So far, I have been able to find ways to fund my own projects. Now, as I move into becoming a full-time artist and musician, I'm asking my supporters, friends and family to help contribute to my third studio release, which will be the next stepping stone in my ultimate musical vision.
Building upon the foundation of my last two albums, this next release will encompass the textural groove, storytelling and Eastern finesse of my previous work while taking these concepts to new levels of sophistication. In order to truly see my artistic vision come to light, I will need your help. Your pledge will go towards the recording, mixing and mastering of the album, as well as CD duplication by a small, independent business in Philadelphia. It will also help with professional distribution of the album to industry professionals and photoshoots, promo videos, etc.
If you have come this far and heard my story and my plea, then maybe you will go one step farther and make a contribution to what will be a shining gem of spiritual artistry in these days of confusion and political mayhem. I will never stop expressing the language of my heart. I hope that together, we can solidify this vision into an album that can be enjoyed by all.

Risks and challenges
My biggest obstacle in completing the album after funding would be to coordinate my schedule with my studio engineer's in order to have the project completed by September/October. However, we have worked together on my last two albums, and have always been on the same page when it comes to keeping commitments and completing each track of the album in a timely fashion. I feel confident that with the proper funding, we will be able to commit ourselves fully to the completion of the album within the course of 6 months, as most all of the songs have already been composed.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
