Stop! Read the script first!
At the VERY bottom of this Kickstarter page there are examples of the pages of the comic at various stages of completion, please scroll down to see them at any point. I think they speak volumes above anything I can say, though I will say a lot nonetheless ;)
Heroic is the first story arc from Zenith comics, a brand new comic line and a brand new universe. It's just the first part in a grand design to bring the HEROICS back to "superheroics". I grew up on comics, I love comics, and I want to make the kind of comics I want to read and bring a whole new world along with it. Zenith exists to make the best comics possible, because I want to read the best comics possible. And you do too.
Heroes who are actually heroes. Heroes who inspire. Bigger than life, and with actual ideals. I am a big fan of the Bronze Age of comics - 1975-1985 in particular. I want to draw from that inspiration, but with a modern eye. I want heroes who inspire, but not ones who are cardboard cut outs of truth and justice. Icons, who stand for something, just like real people often stand for something. I reject that "realistic" means things are grim, humorless, and self-serving. There are people being heroic every day, people fighting for ideals every day. There is room for realistic people in fantastic situations. We used to write those stories. Zenith is going to write them again.
HEROIC kicks off the Zenith Comics line and the Zenith Comics universe. It's the story of a young woman known only as Number 32, who's a vital piece in a much larger game, and that's all I can tell you without ruining it. It's going to be told in two 6-issue arcs, and by the end of it, you'll be introduced to a whole new world of heroes and villains.
Issue 1. The script is written, the creative team is on board. We need funds to get the art done and the printers rolling. IF we hit our goal, Issue 1 goes up. Everything past our goal is focused on getting issues 2-6 started. Fund us and you're bringing a comic to the printed page and launching a new universe. I've got a story to tell, and this is just the beginning. Once the ball is rolling, I've got a whole universe to explore. HEROIC isn't the only story I've got to tell, and I'm not even the only writer Zenith will ever feature. Everything past our goal is going to make sure Zenith Comics grows and expands.

I've got a crew of dedicated and brilliant people helping make this happen. In me, you get the maturity of a writer with 20 years of experience in film & television. I know stories. I know drama. I love comics. We've got the fantastic Alex Williamson as our artist, a man with a distinct but HEROIC style, and a half-dozen credits to his name. Our amazing colorist, Nicolas Chapui, has worked in the industry, and can blend a page like no one's business. Letterer extrodinaire, HdE, who's also got industry credits to his name. You know his work. We're not kids in a basement screwing around. We're here to create something fantastic.
Andrew Collas - Writer Andrew has been working as an actor since 1988 and has appeared (under the name Alan LeGros) in such movies as Battlefield Earth, Stardom and Scourge as well as on many TV shows including a guest star role on Eureka! and the Masters of Horror. A life time comic fan, he decided to take his experience with scripts and visual storytelling and turn to his first love, superheroes. Using his pen name Andrew Collas (in honor of his late mother, see this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFYVemPg_K4) he has built up the Zenith Universe since he first started creating his own superheroes to play with friends in the backyard.
Alex Williamson - Credits: Vigilance Press, Catalyst Game Labs, Green Ronin Publishing, Blackwyrm Games, Petpalooza magazine, White Bull Studios He is also the co-creator and artist of the indie comic Brass Falcon. http://www.hadesillustrations.com/
Nicolas Chapuis - Nicolashas been working as a freelance artist for over 7 years. Some of his clients inculde Disney Hyperion, Dynamite Entertainment, Arcana, Image Comics, Tokyopop and others. You can find him online at. Booom.deviantart.com
HdE - Letterer HdE is a freelance comic book letterer best known for his work on Big Dog Ink's acclaimed ongoing series 'Legend Of Oz: The Wicked West' and 'Ursa Minor'. His letters also grace the UK small press sensation 'Lou Scannon', and the ongoing webcomic 'Propeller' by Ricardo Mo. Transformers fans will also have seen his work on short stories in the deluxe hardcover edition of the fan-favorite series 'Last Stand of the Wreckers'. Rumors that he letters books with alphabetti spaghetti are entirely true.
You can continue to check out who's involved as well as the ongoing story at Zenith Comics Facebook Page.
Depends on how much you want to give us to help make this happen.
So with the addition of the Artist Alley 1 tier, many would like to know who are the Zenith Universe characters that are available to be drawn, so let's break it down.
Lady America - America's first and foremost super soldier, Lady America, the American Amazon, has fought for truth, justice & the American way since 1942 and appears to not have aged a day. Her secret is quickly revealed to us in the story and sets the catalyst for all that comes after. Her power is the raw potential of humanity, meaning she is the best of the best and can only get better.
The Guardsman - The Greatest Hero of the Greatest Generation is what Time Magazine called him. A true paragon, his powers supposedly derived from a magical Roman helmet he found in England during World War II. Recently killed in battle with his Nazi archenemy der Ubermann, the nation has mourned his passing.
Invictus - A young man from Montana who is infused with a raw energy that makes him every bit as powerful as the Guardsman was. A troubled teen with secrets of his own, his desire to present a positive image and "look good" makes many underestimate how committed this young hero is.
Pilgrim - Possessing a power classified as "Biokenesis", Pilgrim is a young, intelligent man on a quest to self discovery. His driving focus is to discover his place in the universe and who he is in relation to that. His spirituality is in constant conflict with his desire to apply logic to his everyday actions.
Devil Dog - A one time spy, the man known as the Fighting Devil Dog is a mix of superhero and superspy. His past has given him not only the skills and contacts he needs to get the job done, but inside knowledge of how the Watch conducts business, as he was once their top operative.
Number 32 - A blank slate to say the least, Number 32 was never meant to be awake. More so she has not been properly prepared for her new life and is running on genetic instinct without a single point of reference. She is also hearing a voice in her head that guides her actions as our story unfolds.
Doc Titan - Former Golden and Silver Age superhero, Doc Titan is also the man who single-handily developed the American Super-Soldier Program during WW2. Since then he has developed Titan Industries, the leading military contractor for the USA as well as running America's ongoing superhuman programs.
Lassiter King - Head of the Watch, the black ops division of Titan Industries, he has no powers but is universally feared by the agents under his control. He is one of the few who will directly stand-up to Doc Titan, but even there he knows his boundaries and rarely exceeds them.
Black Lion - A former big game hunter from France, Black Lion is one of the oldest members of the Watch. His powers, essentially a were-lion, allow him to transform himself from human to a black furred lion as well as a powerful hybrid Lion-Man form. He is a heartless hunter who enjoys his work.
Psiren - An albino woman with tremendous mental powers, Psrien has also studied as a psychiatrist which gives her insight into the behaviours of those she hunts, or so she feels. She despises her teammates on the Watch and may have secrets yet to be revealed.
Johnnie Blades - A psychotic speedster with a penchant for knives, Johnnie Blades was a hit man for the mob before getting recruited into the Watch. He enjoys his work a little too much and often targets that are classified as dead or alive always end up the former.
So it is a given that every project should have stretch goals and we are no different. This section will expand as we add more and more (as they are developed),
Please note that each extra issue will add 2 - 3 months to the expected delivery date as we have to produce them (for example Issue 2 would be about December 2013 or January 2014, etc...)
Also, this is all calculated based on 500 printed copies. If we go over the 500 copies, we would have to recalculate the stretch goals based on demand. Obviously we want this to be as transparent as possible, so these current stretch goals are based on 500 printed copies of the comic.

This captures the essence of what I want to do with my WatchGuard properties, so I'm an instant fan. Risks and challenges
I know we live in an instant gratification culture, but you don't manufacture art. The script for issue 1 is ready to go, and once this Kickstarter is successful, the art starts to happen. That takes time. The comic isn't going to appear on your door the next day. Plus, if you bought your way into the comic, it will take some time to get your face into beautiful comic-book glory. Books take time to print, and shipping is shipping, especially if you're not in the US. We are going to keep the page live, and our Facebook and website will be active the entire time. You'll be able to see the comic take shape, and we promise you, barring Acts of God, if we get our funding, this comic is getting made and everyone who bought a piece of it will get it.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
