About this project
Hello Friends and Music Fans
Sometimes It Snows In April is a project/band I've been thinking about for about five years now with nothing ever coming to full bloom until now.
Recently, I was divinely reunited with Gianni (1000 Mona Lisas & Gus Black). I say "divinely" because it was not sought after to find a bass player or a band mate, it was simply life unfolding organically. At first we spoke nothing of music, just life stuff. Then, one day a few months later I asked him for a friends phone number who owns a studio to inquire about studio time. Gianni seemed intrigued, so I told him about my project/band and he asked to hear some of it. That same day I sent him a demo and to my surprise, we share the same vision of music. Not just our love of great songs, but our desire to make music as an artistic expression, free of clichés or limits. And, just like that, he was on board.
I have been out of the music scene for the last seven years. The music began to feel empty and I felt lost. Looking back, I truly believe it was a much needed and necessary break. During this time, I felt compelled to see the world, to experience and see new things. So, I embarked in an unknown journey. Travelling consumed me, as I searched for something, but not really knowing what it was I was looking for. Most of the songs we plan to record revolve around this period.
I've gone through a metamorphosis, you might say. These songs outline some of the things that I've been through in my life. It's a very personal project which means the world to me. The time for these songs to be heard has finally come. Now, with Gianni and Norm's (more about Norm below) help and enthusiasm, I feel confident that this project will come to fruition and blow many minds, while lighting up the hearts of many others! The songs on the record range from a story about me, my father and my grandfather getting arrested for the cultivation of marijuana, to my experience with the 2005 Tsunami in Thailand and to the untimely death of my dear friend Gary. Because of these experiences, I now find myself writing more positive songs rather than the "I hate me" songs of my past. I hope they will touch you and enlighten your heart on heavy days.
Gianni and I will record the songs with Norm Block, formerly of the bands Plexi, Ringside and many other projects. Norm is a mutual old friend of ours from the 90's LA music scene whom we both admire and respect very much. We are also planing to have many other talented friends join us in the recording studio.
We need your assistance to help finance this project.
Financing helps cover the costs of the recording, mixing, mastering and the production of CDs for the 11 songs we've chosen. It will also go toward paying the musicians who we will need to complete this exciting project. Because our fund raising goal just covers our bare bones costs, anything that we earn beyond this goal will be applied toward covering expenses and paying more to the musicians who help us.
