About

Rocket Assault is a fast-paced Racing/Action with very consistent controllers

Jump, Fly, Destroy or do whatever it takes to complete the missions as fast as possible.

The first version will have single player missions with different difficulties, and an online record charts, to show of your skills.

We think the basis of any good game is a well-developed gameplay experience, more so in the ones that require skills. In Rocket Assault, we are obsessed with reaching smooth and consistent gameplay mechanics.

The controllers are almost the same as we all know and love from other games in the same genre. A few additions have been made, for example, the possibility to bind the keys for every action. We are very happy with the results. Let me tell you, they feel right!

How do I aim in the air?

There is a dedicated button to press in the air, which will slow the rotation of the car, this allows to make precise movements to aim and shoot with ease, the ideal play is to align the car on the jump and make small adjustments in the air before you launch the rocket, this works really well !!

How do the rockets work?

The rockets have a tracking system that detects any target that is close enough. Once it's locked, it will try to adjust its trajectory and hit it. Don't be fooled! you still have to aim but not exactly on target.

We want to make each mission unique and different than the one before. That's why we are trying very hard to come up with new ideas and concepts that may apply to the game.

Achievements

It will have a variety of achievements to unlock, like "hit a target from X distance", "complete level without taking damage", etc.

Speedruns

The game is made for speedrunners. At the end of each mission, you can jump to the next one very quickly until you get to the last one.

Combos

in some levels, the boost will be gained by destroying targets, faster you destroy them, more boost will be added. If you take any damage or you are too slow the combo breaks. This will make the level very fast paced and dynamic.

Boss Battles

Imagine in front of you a huge ship that leaves bombs on the track and shoots rockets at you! and to defeat it you have to shoot to the weak points until you destroy it, is it a great idea or what??

Aerial Levels

Some levels will be mostly by air, so you have to grab the floating boost to keep going.

Bomb Rescue

To complete these levels you'll have to find a bomb and take it to a safe area. When the bomb is on you, any small bump will detonate it, so be careful!

Style Points

The idea is to track the movements on the car and give points for doing certain tricks like 360s, flip and shoot, perfect landings, etc. I'll be honest and tell you that I don't know if I'll be able to do this, but I'll try my best!

There will be a variety of cars to choose from, and a list of things to customize for it.

The items will be unlocked through progression. At the moment we are not thinking of any creative or market system.

We have planned 2 multiplayer modes

Racing Mode

Race against your friends, steal their boost and use every weapon available to win the race.

Battle Mode

Battle with your friends in the arena with obstacles, weapons, and traps.

Multiplayer modes are in a very early stage and will be developed If we reach the 25.000 Euros stretch goal.

I'm a huge fan of non-realistic racing games. As you can see in the videos, the influence from other games is strong, but lately, whenever I've played a racing game I felt something was missing. Just driving wasn't enough for me, I wanted to jump, use weapons, do aerials, etc, so I've decided to do something about it. 

It started as a hobby, I had almost no knowledge of game development (before this I tried to make a 2d game in unity that went nowhere really fast), at first it was really frustrating, but whenever something worked, it felt great! so I just kept going. One year later when the game was taking form, I found myself playing the game for hours and it was really fun, very basic still, but fun, I felt I was into something so I decided to work harder and release a game no matter what. 

It's been very hard working 2 years without seeing results or knowing if people will like it. There were sometimes I thought I was just losing my time and wanted to give up. This is an important milestone for me and I will define the future of Rocket Assault, part of this campaign is to see how people react to my project where i'm standing and see if there is something to go after.

At release, it will be available only on Steam. If we get to the 50.000 euros goal, the game will be ported to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One

For Linux users, I have plans to release a version but I haven't tried the build yet. I don't want to make false promises, there are some things that I don't know, but I'll try to include the option!

For this we'll have to work together, set the ground rules, and from there create a level from your own ideas of objectives, enemies, environment etc.

What is the current state of the project

It's about 60% done, the core of the game is done, the controllers are polished, the UI, menus, configurations are all done. Now we have to focus on the level design and new items. It took me almost 2 years to get to 60%, but I've started with very little knowledge of game development. Now the speed of the development has increased a lot. 

If we don't reach the initial goal the game will be released anyways, but with some delay, how much time is uncertain.

Where does the money go?

We are going to invest the money back in order to improve and finish the game. Thanks to the support of the backers, we will be able to spend more time developing the game, we will start a marketing campaign and different promotions in order to expand our market.

There is no such thing as a bad feedback.

We really appreciate all the feedback we have received (and the ones coming) because they give us the chance to get better and to make the game more interesting and exciting. We want you to participate, to love the game and to feel part of it. Supporting us, you become one of us.

We want to accelerate the progress. Doing this only in our spare time takes too long. We've reached a point at this project that a final sprint is needed to finish it. With the financial help, Kickstarter could bring us, we could spend a lot more time on this project, be more consistent on the progress, and get better results.
