The combined effort of multiple not-for-profit neighborhood institutions, the First Annual Fox Point Folk Festival in Providence, RI will be an afternoon of Beer & Bocce, Hangin on Hammocks, Skate Structures, a Kids' Corner, and Fantastic Folk music From our neighbors and Friends. This is a day of conviviality, of making the most of your neighborhood, and it's open to all who love Fox Point and this city.
We're turning to Kickstarter, to you all, because too often these events rely on the performers' passions taking precedent over their pockets. That is, musicians commit to share their hard earned talents, to share themselves for an hour or an afternoon, and more often than not they receive little in return. We want to pay our performers not just for the hour they play today, but for the hours they've poured into their crafts. Support the Arts, Support your hood, Help us make it happen.

Risks and challenges
This is a low risk project. We have a team of dedicated managers on every piece of this year's event, and they're doing it for free. What we really risk is setting a precedent that we will need to carry forward, year-after-year, which is a much more daunting task. The community of Neighborhood Associations, Musicians, Small Business Owners, and Families that we have here in fox.point is rich with the tools we need to do so, it's motivating them to participate that is the greater challenge.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
