We made it! Whew! OK, so we get to keep what was pledged. But please don’t stop here! We can still use more help. The goal makes the production possible, now anything more helps us to improve production values, improve advertising, improve everything! We’ll put your hard earned pledges to good use, WE PROMISE!George Milton, (Sean Patrick Reilly) small and quick, dark of face, with restless eyes and sharp strong features, travels with Lenny Small, (Gregory Erbach) who’s not small at all a huge man, mentally a child, shapeless of face, with large pale eyes and wide sloping shoulders.* Two migrant workers, unlikely friends, who travel together in search of work, and in fulfillment of a dream to find their own Utopia, They carry their dream along in their travels and entice another pair of dreamers to join in their quest.
November 27, 2012 was the 75th anniversary of OF MICE AND MEN opening on Broadway. At the time, the economy was in a tailspin and unemployment out of control. Sound familiar?
Of Mice and Men is as timely now as it was 75 years ago. The themes are timeless, themes of racial hatred, sympathy, humanity. Themes that spark the minds of our children and provoke important conversation.
Hudson Theatre Works is New Jersey's newest professional theatre company.
On the heels of their highly successful inaugural PLAYWORKS series of playreadings with such stellar talent as Karen Ziemba, Sean Patrick Reilly, Steven Dennis, Maureen Van Zandt and Robert Funaro, Hudson Theatre Works is looking to MAKE SOME NOISE with their inaugural full production of John Steinbeck's classic tale of friendship and compassion, OF MICE AND MEN, coming in the early spring of 2013.
The play will be directed by FRANK LICATO, who recently received an Applause Award from the New Jersey Theatre Alliance and the best production and director award for The Grapes of Wrath at the Chatham Playhouse.
Hudson Theatre Works is dedicated to a rugged aesthetic and seeks to tell stories, both new and old, classic and contemporary, which reflect our lives, relationships and the world today. It is committed to an ensemble collaboration as well as artistic risk through its work with its permanent company, guest artists, partner institutions and the surrounding community.
Hudson Theatre Works primary focus is to bring a living theatre community to the area of Hudson County and North Jersey through performance, outreach, and theatre arts education.
Hudson Theatre Works will hold a special performance of OF MICE AND MEN just for high school students from the local communities. For many of them, it will be their first exposure to live professional theatre. After the show, we’ll engage them in a discussion of the major themes of the play with our director and the actors.

Risks and challenges
Hudson County, New Jersey is a highly populated area that we at HTW feel is ripe for a theatre company that can provide an opportunity for the community to have its very own center for performing arts expression. At the same time, we recognize that producing theatre “in the heat” of the NYC theatre scene can be a daunting challenge.
There are general challenges to producing theatre anywhere. Schedule challenges, costs of the physical production as well as marketing, and there are often unplanned costs associated with getting a show “on the boards”
We at Hudson Theatre Works feel getting a highly professional product is the lesser of our challenges. We need to get the word out that we are producing and aim to do that by energizing our base to share the word and grow our audience beyond the limits of our, albeit large, circle of friends.
We at the Hudson Theatre Works feel we are uniquely prepared to deliver and succeed in our goals. The founding members and board are comprised of seasoned professionals in theatre, television, film, business, and marketing and are highly skilled and motivated to deliver an arts experience that is at once challenging and rewarding.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
