Urban Farm Kits: The solution to city farming.
Earn $1,000 - $20,000+ by transforming idle residential or commercial space into a portable, highly productive urban farm.
The challenge of producing food locally has created a unique opportunity in urban farming. Small scale growers are sprouting up in greater numbers – growing on plots of land not typically designated for farm use. Industrial areas, rooftops and former dump sites, are being transformed for food cultivation, creating innovation in how we, as a society, approach food production. With greater population density and less green space, the evolution of our food systems must adapt to the changing landscape of today’s growing cities.
West Coast Micro Greens Inc. is driven by the development of new age, urban farming systems that will create a network of secure, healthy food sources, while providing agricultural entrepreneurs with the tools they need to succeed in a sustainable agricultural industry. Our mandate is to provide nursery tree growers, farmers, greenhouse operators, urban farmers and residential gardeners with the information and equipment needed to get a head start in advancing healthy, efficient, resilient urban farms.
Our products have seen great success in transforming nursery tree farming, as well as urban farming initiatives throughout the United States and Canada. The patented, non-woven geotextile grow bags, along with our composting and comprehensive irrigation technology, create portable, semi-automated, diversified small-scale farms, using regenerative and economically efficient agricultural practices. Employing our urban farm system allows our customers to produce healthier trees, fruits and vegetables with higher yield potential and increased profit margins in small growing areas that would otherwise be wasted.
The above image reveals the scale of a 100 container urban farm kit once deployed. Using lettuce as an example (can grow any crop including: chickpeas, tomatoes, potatoes, cannabis, etc.), each 15 GL – container has the capacity to grow on average, 5 heads per container, per month. At an average cost of $1.99 USD per head of organic lettuce, growers can produce roughly $1000 USD from a 100 container operation, per month, of food supply using our urban farm system. Aside from our kits, all you need to source is the seeds, plants and soil from a trusted provider to start.
It is estimated by the year 2050 that the world will need 60% more food than we are currently producing. As this reality continues in a future defined by concerns about food security, adequate nutrition, community resilience, and reliable income, we must look to new and innovative methods of providing for this changing world. Our diversified urban farming systems meet these challenges by using technologically efficient, above-ground agricultural practices that:
- Easily ship and can be setup in hours.
- Grow nutritious food faster with quantifiable results.
- Can be stored, packed and moved in hours.
- Strengthen disaster preparedness.
- Are cost effective and scalable.
- Facilitate resource stewardship by recycling compost on site and use 85% less water.
- Provide a resource for food assistance, nutrition and community resilience.
Our goal is to share our growing system with the world and form a network of urban farms and farmers internationally that provide a reliable source of local, organic produce on both a residential and commercial level. In achieving our vision, we will not only increase food security but we will enable growers to provide a fresher, higher quality product, cut back on freight and storage costs, while heavily reducing the impacts of food miles for consumers.
Our philosophy? Why spend money on fruits and vegetables when you can easily grow it yourself? Whether you are a business subsidizing your monthly food budget or you simply want to grow your own herbs, vegetables or greens at home, urban farming is not only economically viable but it can be the perfect antidote to modern life and all its fast paced, stress inducing, social concerns. Growing your own food will give you a greater appreciation for the quality of produce that you consume on a daily basis, as well as provide you with a deeper connection to your environment and what is being produced seasonally. Whether you live in an apartment building, condo, house or on a farm, our system of growing is intuitive, easy and made for the everyday grower.
