New Add-On - All Metal Towers

12 likes

We are super excited to announce this new add-on that we have been working on for a while.

$100 - All Metal Playable Towers Set - Shipping April 2017

This is a fully gameplay-capable set of all Metal Towers for Defense Grid: The Board Game that are made in USA.  This add-on will ship well in advance of the actual game product.

This includes all 14 Towers and the 5 Boost Platforms, 14 Hex bases for the towers and 14 pillars for tracking the shot tokens on the Towers.

We will be demoing Defense Grid: The Board Game at PAX South 2017 next weekend primarily using these metal sets.  So please, swing by Booth #9036 and check them out!

These will ship from US Zip Code 98072 and will not be EU Friendly.  We will be shipping all sets using USPS Priority Mail Small Flat Rate boxes for Domestic and International shipping.  To calculate your expected shipping costs, you can use the USPS website https://postcalc.usps.com/

Some assembly is required.  You will need a pair of metal snips as well as metal capable super glue to assemble them.

      Yes @Kenneth Mashburn, you can add them on after the Kickstarter closes, but if you wait till then your extra pledge will not count toward any stretch goals unlocking.

      So can we add-on the metal towers after the Kickstarter closes in backerkit or Pledge Manager???

      The non-EU friendly items is mostly a result of shipping direct from the USA version from Panda manufacturing in China.

      In this case, the manufacturing is in the state of Indiana in the USA and we are only producing on-demand to meet what people order. Even if we did get a large amount of orders, due to the weight of these, it would be extremely expensive to warehouse in all the locations needed.

      In general, we do plan to be EU Friendly on as much as we can, but with these metal minis and the signed copies of the game, that is really difficult.

      I'm curious, what's the deciding factor for non-EU-friendliness? Not expecting to get enough orders for these to make shipping arrangements with the EU warehouse worth the while? I'd be willing to wait until the actual game is released if that would reduce shipping costs and the risk of having to pay VAT. At a quick estimate shipping+VAT would be $64 extra cost for me.

      Err that @Jeremy was for @ Arthur Cormode

      @Jeremy Berven

      Sorry, it would require us to have a different box and production of the game in order to remove the injection molded miniatures from it. If we somehow sold like 5,000 to 10,000 units, we might be able to do this, but right now that would not be feasible.

      @Dustin_00

      The Metal Towers will be able to easily replace the Injection Molded one in the box in the formed plastic we plan to have them in.

      @Jeremy Berven

      Sorry, it would be prohibitively expensive to have the Metal Tower miniatures pre-assembled :(

      If there was an add on where they were pre-assembled (I'm all thumbs) I'd be interested. :P

      Those are super sweet, though. :)

      Do you have a good plan for keeping metal parts from destroying the other components when in the box?

      Chances of making a tier that doesn't come with plastic minis so that we don't have dups?

    12. Anthony Hanses 2-time creator on January 21, 2017

      No problem @James McMillian!

      This is why we made these a nice add-on option. These are for people who like nice, heavy minis (these have real weight to them), and enjoy painting and assembly.

      We originally got these because our small run manufacturer for the minis didn't have enough Resin capacity before PAX South, so we had to do metal, but then we fell in love with them so much we decided to offer them to backers as well.

      I suck at minis in general, even more so with metal ones. I'd love to, but I know it'd be dumb of to do so. Looks awesome, though!

      @Jess Turner

      Yea! We can do local pickup. Pop me a message after the campaign ends to arrange pickup. Probably meet in Bellevue Square Mall.

      Very tempting! If I add them on would local pickup be possible? I'm in Seattle. :)
