Bob & Dale is a narrative short film about an elderly gay couple in a remote Rocky Mountain town who find a deeper love when dementia threatens their independence.
In this moment these two men have begun their return to nature, drifting back into the world that created them. There is beauty in this journey, in the love that they discover, most of all, that in the face of this, they have each other.
This is a love story, that postulates the idea that maybe we meet the love of our lives at the end of our lives.
Bob & Dale is a short thesis film produced by students of The Barry R. Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema. We'll be shooting on location in the mountains of Creede CO for two weeks in mid January.
Filmmaking of this magnitude involves a lot of moving pieces: cast, crew, equipment, locations, weather, etc. The purpose of this Kickstarter is to acquire the necessary resources needed to execute the film.
Creede has already provided an amazing amount of support to our production, and as you can see below, we have a great group of filmmakers working on our team.
As of this moment we've raised over a third of our budget offline. We received a $10,000 grant from the New York Mayor's Office of Film and Television, and an additional $17,000 through private donors.
We're coming to Kickstarter to raise another $23,648 to cover our:
- Transportation - Planes, Vans, Car, Zamboni ($9,000)
- Lodging - Housing & Meals ($9000)
- Equipment Rental - Grip and Electric Gear ($5648)
We're reaching out to groups and individuals who are excited about our story. We'd love for you to join this community!
Our team is comprised of 19 emerging filmmakers, that come from all over the world. Collectively we have worked on over forty films. If you want to check out some of our crew further follow the links below.

Risks and challenges
The environment that Bob & Dale is set in is remote and filled with extremes. Shooting in southern Colorado is a daily struggle against temperature, limited daylight, high altitude/low oxygen and snow. It is imperative that we take good care of our cast and crew. The good news is, the beauty of the story and its surroundings make it worth it.
It’s always a risk to tell a new story that hasn’t been told. Breaking new ground always has its challenges. It can feel like being the odd kid out at school. But that’s the reason why we are here and that’s one of the reasons we love this project so much. We’re glad you’re here and helping us. Thank you for your support!
