Tales from the Border started in 2018 as an online webcomic showcasing all of my short comics. Now it is time for a new adventure; with the first chapter of my graphic novel near completion, it's time to bring Tales from the Border from the screen and in to print!
The new Tales from the Border anthology comic will not only collect the best of these short comics but will have lots of new -- and exclusive -- content. The first issue - an estimated 30-40 pages in length - will include short fiction, essays on art, literature, and music, two short comics, and the first chapter of my first graphic novel! These chapters, serialised in each issue of Tales from the Border, will not be available on my website. So if you want to start reading my first extended work - here's the place to get it!
My new graphic novel The Stations of the Cross follows a knight shortly after the Crusades. After seeing the horrors of war and committing many atrocities, this knight has lost his faith in God and himself. As he roams Medieval Europe, running from his trauma and from himself, his past begins to catch up with him and he is forced to reckon with questions of morality and meaning in a faithless world. The Stations of the Cross is a graphic novel that examines the meaningless of life and the amorality of the universe. It blends elements of the Gothic, historical fiction, folk horror, and in style is inspired by classic silent cinema and the arthouse films of Ingmar Bergman, Andrei Tarkovsky and Bela Tarr. I'm hoping to create a unique graphic novel, not quite like anything you've read before - and you can be the judge of that with this first issue!
So where do YOU come in?
Essentially, I'll be using Kickstarter to fund printing the first issue. The writing / drawing of the issue is on track to be done by early January, after which I will spend a month designing the layout. Wether or not the Kickstarter is fully funded, a digital issue will be available for sale. But if fully funded, I will use your money to fund an initial printing of 100 copies. These copies will be distributed to you according to your tier, and sent to various shops in the UK to get it on store shelves. Copies will also be for sale at future conventions.

Risks and challenges
There is little to no risk here - if the project does not get funded, then the issue doesn't go to print (for now). There will still be a digital issue available for sale come January, and based on how digital sales go I will fund a smaller printing based off of that.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
