After a successful run on Kickstarter back in September to launch my debut collection, I’m hoping to make it happen again. When I hit my initial goal on Kickstarter, The Huffington Post contacted me to conduct and interview about my collection and how I got the idea to raise the funds using social media. I had one of my sketches featured in Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) and photos of my show posted on Wire Image and LIFE.com. In fact, a dress from my collection was selected as one of LIFE’s “Thirty Sexy Runway Moments from Spring 2011!” This wouldn’t have been possible without Kickstarter.
I received an overwhelming amount support from friends, family and people I’d never met before who found me through my blog, Facebook, directly through Kickstarter and via bloggers who spread the word about my project. I was so impressed by the power of social media that I believe it can help me to fund my Fall presentation scheduled for February.
While the process is exciting, a project like this requires a tremendous amount of time, devotion and discipline as well as a fair amount of capital. I am only lacking the latter. That is where you come in! With your help, I will be able to purchase fabric, pay for models, hair & make-up and a venue.
Once you donate to the project, you’ll become an official sponsor privy to insider information regarding the collection. In addition to the “prizes” listed, you will receive updates every few days including pictures, design concepts, fabric selections and general reports on the behind-the-scenes hustle and bustle. Be part of the excitement and participate in building a collection ----from start to finish.
