Dark Angel meets Supernatural, Inception and Fringe.
Batten down the hatches, folks! It’s the end of the good old days as you know them. Superheroes are dead. Villains are running rampant. And innocent blood is being spilt by the gallons. This is the world of La Verdad. This is the beginning of an uncompromising new web series.
Set in a fictitious metropolis of Salvation, our story chronicles the exploits of La Verdad, a wayward Hispanic heroine, who searches for her missing family while fighting to save a city from the brink of all-out war.
Now we know what you're thinking, this sounds like an extremely ambitious web series. And you're right. It is! But we are committed to not only producing one of the best comic book based web series to date but telling an incredible story as well, the likes of Ed Brubaker's Daredevil run. And we can only do it with your help. Will La Verdad: The Series dominate The Dark Knight Rises in the mind of its viewers? Probably not. But that doesn't mean La Verdad won't be amazing (in look and feel)!
WHAT WE'VE DONE SO FAR:
This past November we produced a prequel short film to the web series, that was funded completely out of pocket, in Prelude to Bedlam. The film stars Benjamin Dunn, Krista Hazelwood and Tansy Alexander and tells the story of a hardcore comic book fan name Rudy as he struggles with his own morality in the wake of learning that his favorite superhero is going to die.
Post production on Prelude to Bedlam wrapped January 2012 and the film is currently on an extensive film festival run. We are all very proud of the short and look to make La Verdad: The Series bigger and better than its predecessor.
The crew is in place, scripts have been written and roles are currently being cast.
The entire season will be scored by Glen Cheney. Glen composed the scores for Prelude to Bedlam and we are truly excited to have him back on this project.
HOW WILL YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS HELP:
Anyone who knows anything about production, knows that they usually aren't cheap. Professional crew members need be compensated. All personnel (cast and crew) need to be fed. And because we're producing a superhero-based series, high quality costumes need to be made. Again, our goal is not to slap this series together. But to produce an incredible project that is not only considered a success by mainstream standards but something we all (you, as an investor, and us) can be extremely proud of. In other words, this is not just our baby. By contributing whatever you can to the production, La Verdad: The Series becomes your baby as well.
THE FORMAT OF THE FIRST SEASON:
The series debuts October 24, 2012 and will be featured on the Reimagine Films website (www.reimaginefilms.com), Facebook, Youtube, Vimeo and The Web Series Channel, just to name a few places.
There will be 16 episodes in the first season. New episodes will debut every other week with a new Making Of video for the previous episode being featured on the "off weeks". The idea is to not just showcase a series but to provide casual fans and fellow filmmakers alike a complete movie-going experience.
