Last 2 Days of the New Broken Contract Kickstarter!

It's been a fun ride, but it's nearing the end. We are entering the final hours of the Broken Contract Miniature Starter Set Kickstarter so it's time for the last big push. If you Backed the first attempt but haven't been watching the new one, we would love to have your support!

Here's the breakdown of what's available through that Kickstarter:

  •  Broken Contract Miniature Starter Set - This contains 5 Breakers and 3 Prods. Ari Gaylen, Adesi Haddonis, Will Kollis, Nells Turnbull, Trest the Gen-Mod, Officer Moerta, Officer Tulson, and Overseer Billins. The models are all pewter. $40.00 plus shipping.
  • Broken Contract Exclusive Set - This contains 2 Breakers, 2 Prods, and a Speaker Drone. Micha Donnelly, Grippe Candera, Officer Hickley, and Overseer Smythe. $25.00
  • Prone Officer Hickley - $8.00
  • Broken Contract Miniature Starter Set Add-On - This contains 1 Breaker and 1 Prod. Talla Kellerman and a Prod Gen-Mod. $12.00

Pick up all of these models for $85.00 plus shipping! Or just pick out what you want.

This is going to allow us to release a bunch of miniatures, get people playtesting the rules, and most importantly it will allow us to continue development so we can release a proper rulebook and more models later this year. Any support you can give is a huge help so if money is tight, please share the Kickstarter link on social media or with your gaming friends.

Thanks!

-Nick

Our New Kickstarter is Up!

Hey! I'm taking a breath from running demos at AdeptiCon to launch our new Kickstarter. The Broken Contract Miniature Set KS is now up and live. We would love to have your continued support. Check out the link and give us your feedback, support and share!

Thank you all for your backing Broken Contract last September and giving me the impetus to carry on.  Thanks again!

AdeptiCon Prep, a New Artist, and Our First Painted Models!

Banner art by Filip Dudek
Banner art by Filip Dudek

A lot has happened in the last month. We've added a new freelance artist to work on thematic pieces of art for the rulebook. His name is Filip Dudek and he previously has done work for the game, Across the Dead Earth. The above piece is one of five that he has done for us so far and we're very excited to be working with him.

That above piece of art is actually going to be printed on a 3' x 5' banner that will be on display at AdeptiCon this coming Thursday-Sunday in the suburbs of Chicago. Come and find that banner in the main hall and get I'll run you through a demo game.

I've started painting up some of the sample miniatures we've received, and I've built a three dimensional board to run game demos at AdeptiCon. This piece is a scratch built freight elevator.

I've also painted up Trest who will be on display at AdeptiCon.

Before I get back to painting (I have five more characters to finish and only a day and a half to do it in!) I'd like to give you all the heads up that a brand new "mini Kickstarter" will be launched any day now to raise the funds for our first box of miniatures, garner playtesters, and keep development going. Please keep an eye out and get involved!

Thanks again for supporting Broken Contract last September and for following along as we've regrouped these last 6 months. It has been much appreciated!

Model Preview: First Casts and New Renders!

Officer Hickley casting.
Officer Hickley casting.

Backers from a time long past! We've got our first casts in hand, and I have to say that I am ecstatic. Sure, there is always room for improvement and this is a learning process, but it doesn't change that this project has come so far in the last year, and rapid progress has been made in just the last 4 months. Valiant Enterprises has sent over three casts (two that we'll show today) and it was such an epic moment opening that parcel; very exciting indeed.

That being said, Officer Hickley (above), was our first sculpt, and now we have him in hand and its a proud moment. Officer Hickley will be a Kickstarter and convention Exclusive character. He's a brutal tool of corporatocracy - a willing bloodthirsty goon. I'm even more excited because he is modeled after my friend and play tester - Chuck Hickey.

Trest the Gen-Mod casting.
Trest the Gen-Mod casting.

Trest stands an epic 38mm from foot to eye. He is a genetically modified human, breed to replace machinery that is too costly to ship across intergalactic space. His breather and backpack, otherwise known as the Gen-Mod Apparatus, pumps his lungs full of narcotics to keep him working without rest while making him complacent. Chemically controlled slaves to their corporate masters, Gen-Mods that go rogue, like Trest, risk the effects of their crippling dependency.

Officer Moerta is determined to make the most of her position in the mines, and will do whatever it takes to retain it. She's a recent recruit to Black Squadron Security and has something to prove. She will enforce her Overseer's orders without question and without remorse.

Nells Turnbull is a self-centered, back stabbing criminal who has sustained himself quite well in the FerrumSky mines through manipulation and double dealing. However, he knows that he wouldn't need to work 16+ hour days with his "skills" if he could get out of the mines and out onto the Bonelands. Having a group of saps to watch the Prods pulp as he made his break attempt is just his kind of escape plan.

Finally, this Speaker Drone equipped with Sonic Disruptor is in sculptor Tim Barry's que right now. This will be the first of a variety of drones that will exist to harry escaping Breakers. Thanks for reading Broken Contract fans (and even just the passingly curious). Follow us on Facebook and Twitter. I will part with this preview from tomorrow's edition of Making Mine Scenery on the Broken Contract Design Blog. -Nick

So Much to Report!

Overseer Billins
Overseer Billins

December and January have been very exciting months for Broken Contract. All of the people who have been working on this project are hammering away on various projects and the fruits of their labors are all coming together.

John "Geng" Gendall submitted the brutal art above for Billins, the ruthless Prod Overseer. This not the only art he submitted. He also sent over various incarnations of both Overseer Billins, and a more action packed rendition of Officer Lamal Tulson. This new version of Officer Tulson has already been sculpted and is in the revision stage right now, along side three other sculpts that Tim Barry has been working on.

VisionProto sent over three new prototypes, including this one of Officer Hickley. I want to refine my presentation before I show off the others, though if you follow the Broken Contract Design Blog, our Facebook, or our Twitter you may have already seen them. Three of our five prototypes were also sent to Valiant for casting this week. These are big strides forward.

Finally, Sam Alcarez, our graphic designer, has sent over a first glimpse at what the rule book might look like. Its just a background he created with some of the rule book text on top but its absolutely thrilling to see things coming together.

We believe in this project so we've stayed the course. The big show, AdeptiCon, is coming up soon so we are striving to have something concrete to show the world in time for that event. We have so much in process... We can do this. Fingers crossed!

Thanks again for your support. And as always, your feedback is welcomed. :)
