From the creator of ZDAY Survival Simulator, ZDAY Survivor puts your survival skills to the test in this location based RPG game.
Developed for iOS, ZDAY Survivor is the latest creation of independent game developer and producer Ed Anderson. The follow up to the ground-breaking text based game "ZDAY Survival Simulator", ZDAY Survivor takes the same approach to intelligent text gaming to the next level by creating a location based MMO/RPG/MUD* game that allows players to search the real world to find their next challenge. The best part about this role playing game, is that you get to play the role of YOU as the ultimate survivor.

Another Zombie Game?
Zombie games are a dime a dozen, and many developers have tried doing location based games within this genre. But we believe we have found the key to what every other developer has missed, and that is the STORY. ZDAY Survivor will be the first text based game of its kind that challenges players by matching their player profile and location with an interactive story that challenges the player's zombie survival skills by posing tough decisions and situations that the player must solve by using only his or her wits and the scarce resources available to them. ZDAY "Survivor" is a story, and each encounter is a well written and detailed account of the imagined world around you. Players will become immersed in the intense realism depicted in the game, and like a good book, they won't be able to put it down.
Non Player Character Survivors are an important and very fun strategic element in ZDAY Survivor. After the ZDAY event, there will not be very many non-infected survivors, and those who remain will either be a potential friend or a foe. The player will encounter Non Player Characters (NPCs) in the game, and he or she will have to decide whether or not to invite them to join his party, or whether or not to judge mug them and take their stuff. Some will put up a fight, so be careful. Survivors will each have individual skills, some have weapons, and some will be nothing more than dead weight, so choose carefully.
During this Kickstarter, Donations of $40 or more will guarantee your face and first name will be used as a model for one of the NPC survivors. Currently, there are only about 30 NPC survivors, we are looking to expand that to around 50.
Here are some samples of other survivors we have immortalized:
ZDAY Survivor, a casual but addictive, play anytime game
ZDAY Survivor is a game designed to be played anywhere, any time. You can play for just a few quick seconds if you wish, or take on a more challenging campaign for 20 minutes, thats up to you. You can play it at home, on the bus on your way to work, at the local coffee shop, or even at your school, church, or at the mall. No matter where you are in the pre-ZDAY universe, you will no longer have to wonder: "What would this place be like after ZDAY?", because now you will know.
Warning: The creators of ZDAY Survivor will not be responsible for your breaking up with your significant other because you were fighting zombies and gathering weapons during your romantic dinner date.
Never Ending Story
The game server will be located on the cloud, which will allow us to push new story content down as it is created by both the staff writers and artists as well as the player community. Contributing artists that have already signed on to contribute include celebrated writer's such as Don Roff, author of "Zombies: A Record in the Year of Infection".
Players can make up their own challenges
We are also enlisting players who have a desire to write a zombie challenge for the game. We have employed a new and exciting online interactive story writing tool called "inklewriter", that we are encouraging players to use for their story submissions. Now every player who wants to play a particular challenge that is either based on their favorite location, such as their school or their local mall, can write it up and submit it for inclusion in the game. Nothing like this has ever been done before.
Intelligent Strategy Game
There are plenty of realistic shooters out there. What ZDAY Survivor creators are focused on is the art of telling a story, and allowing the player to play the role of the hero by controlling every aspect of his destiny. The game provides the narrative, the player provides the decisions. Using a simple tile and card approach to the user interface, we have given the player the ability to customize his or her offensive and defensive strategies, including the weapons and equipment loadout, use of survival items, and management of his survival party. ZDAY Survivor puts the player in control of every aspect of their own survival.

We are planning a definite release before Xmas 2012, but hoping for November. Future releases are planned over the next 12 months that will add survivor community building, integrate player-created content, introduce Player vs Player challenge mode, item crafting, and in-game trading. ZDAY Survivor is a game like none that has ever been designed, when it's finished it will have made a place for itself in the timeline of text based gaming.
Future release features
Future releases of ZDAY Survivor will include a player vs player mode, which will allow players to challenge other players to fight for territory, supplies or resources they have accumulated. Battles will be hosted via the remote server, and will be turn based. Players will be able to connect to their friends, form alliances, and they can complete in or even create their own group challenge.
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
The main hurdle for any independent game developer is of course, money for production expenses. The production costs of the game has been covered entirely by the game designer and the development partner at Threejacks Software, because we believe so much in this title. We have already completed 95% of the game development, and have invested over $100K of our own time and money. We have been working on this project since Fall of 2011, and have kept it under tight wraps to avoid leaking any of its design elements and risking infringement. Most of the work is done, and as we prepare for release we are asking our player community to help us with this final push, which involves money for testing, polishing, paying for the space on Cloud servers that host the game content, but mostly the costs related to marketing and promotions. Because after all, you can make the best game in the world, but if nobody sees it, your efforts will be for naught. We have a modest sum of $3K set for this project because it is a minimum that we can work with, but the more we get, the better off we will be when we go live.
It's a game of strategy that you play while you are at home, or out and about during the day or night. The concept is similar to our first game, ZDAY Survival Simulator in that it is story-based, and all of the challenges are written in advance. But it is much larger in scope and more strategic than the original, and has a much more robust game engine that allows the player to use items, weapons and Non-Player Characters Survivors to survive the Zombie apocalypse. It's thoroughly addicting to play, you will find yourself checking in everywhere you go, to try and find that much needed item or weapon.
Developed for iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch. It will be compatible with iPhone 4 and up, iPad 1,2, or 3. and iPod touch 3G.
